  1. My Dad's gonna visit, driving in from St. Louis today. He and I have plans to work on some stuff around my house, some electrical stuff mostly, like a circuit in the kitchen that doesn't work, and put in a new outlet in the dining room, etc... Hopefully the weather will be OK on Sunday (though that's not looking too good), cuz we've all got plans to get together with my wife's folks, and catch the outdoor KC Symphony pops concert at Union Station, followed by fireworks. (If it gets rained out on Sunday, then hopefully they can squeeze it in on Monday night.) Nothing terribly exciting by conventional standards, but it'll be good to spend time with my Dad, who's staying until Tuesday. I've been to St. Louis several times since my Mom passed away back in February, but this'll be his first trip here since then. (I call him two or three times a week, and he seems to be doing quite well.) So it'll be good to have my Dad here for a fairly long visit, about 5 days.
  2. That's so "8 hours ago" man, get with the times... -_-
  3. Link: more Hella Kitty... This time on .
  4. Link: Hella Kitty on eBay on , that is.
  5. Hella Kitty!!!! (look closely) EDIT: More of the same...
  6. What can any of us say, but that Jim totally hit this nail on the head. Bravo!!!
  7. Maybe you're not alone. Better start a poll about it, and see!!!
  8. Watch out, there's another fork in this road.
  9. The world waits for the results.
  10. Not I, but I'd love to hear the disc (or is it two?) from the "late" mid-70's. You know, if I could find a copy of this set for something reasonable (say $100 or less), I'd be tempted. Looking at completed auctions on eBay, it appears the going 'street value' for used copies of this set range from about $115 to $145 (plus or minus). One went for $99, but that was with a "buy it now" -- pretty good deal. Anybody else have this?? Spontoon, didn't you mention something about this one time?? - like maybe you had it, or were eyeing one at one time??
  11. Where'd you find one, Spontoonie?? If you happen to have it on disc, I'd love to borrow it sometime. Sounds like something that'd be very interesting, especially with Stanko.
  12. Is it too late to vote for La Toya London?? Seriously, after she got voted off - I gave up on American Idol for this season. Went cold turkey, and haven't watched a bit of it since then.
  13. The lower the number, the less it's probably worth. In your case, I'd say #16 is barely worth $20, but cuz I'm such a nice guy -- I'll give you $50 for it.
  14. That's a GREAT idea! Seriously, maybe not a half-bad idea. When the time is right, of course, and if he shows some interest in music. Couldn't hurt to put a pair of sticks in his hands (when he's old enough, of course), along with a pair of sticks in Daddy's hands too. Worst case: it could be a lot of fun!! - for both you and your boy!! Best case: we'll eventually have another someone to eventually help fill Elvin's huge shoes. Or many something in between.
  15. I think it's definitely worth investigating, including taking your son to a qualified specialist. But (if at all possible), it would be good to get a second opinion, especially before any prescriptions are started for him. I knew someone several years ago, who was an adult who suffered from ADHD, and she was able to function quite a bit better because of the medication(s) she took to control things. (I think she had a young son who also had ADHD, if I remember right, and meds helped him as well). At the same time, I think there's also a tendency to over-prescribe meds. But that doesn't necessarily mean that meds aren't right in your son's case either. Meds may indeed be an appropriate choice. (Or very inappropriate.) Again, get educated, and get multiple opinions from people who have some first-hand knowledge about ADHD. I'm betting there are some on-line communities about this topic, made up of parents like yourself, who struggle with their kids, to varying degrees. And if so, I'll bet they discuss the particulars of their own situations, and share information they've learned as well. Good luck!! -- Tom
  16. I thought there were six titles (can't find six, can only find four), so maybe it was just these four (from Jazzmatazz)... ================== Gary Bartz - Music Is My Sanctuary (Blue Note Rare Groove) Apr 22, 2003 Donald Byrd - Caricatures (Blue Note Rare Groove) Apr 22, 2003 John Patton - Got A Good Thing Going (Blue Note Rare Groove) Apr 22, 2003 Candido - Beautiful (Blue Note Rare Groove) Apr 22, 2003 ================== EDIT: FYI, there were five in 2002 (also from Jazzmatazz)... Eddie Henderson - Sunburst (Blue Note Rare Grooves) May 21, 2002 Richard "Groove" Holmes - Comin' On Home (Blue Note Rare Grooves) May 21, 2002 Jack McDuff - Moon Rappin' (Blue Note Rare Grooves) May 21, 2002 Bobbi Humphrey - Satin Doll (Blue Note Rare Grooves) May 21, 2002 Jimmy McGriff - The Worm (Blue Note Rare Grooves) May 21, 2002 ==================
  17. No idea what the heck this is.
  18. No 'inside' info to base this on, but I have a hunch we'll see some rare Grooves before the end of the year. For some reason, Rare Grooves don't get asked about as much (it seems), and the early, early, everly leaking of info about the Rare Goove titles doesn't seem to be nearly as frequent as it is with the Conns and RVG's (at least based on my experience).
  19. From an on-line FAQ on Jason, Found it HERE (scroll down quite a ways into the page).
  20. Are you black or white?? (Wait, we'd better save that question just for Jackie. Better to not piss off more people than necessary, I always say. )
  21. Beldon did a great big-band version of "Directions" on this release, way back in 1989... Treasure Island (Sunnyside, 1989).
  22. Oh man, I hadn't realized we were talking about THOSE tracks. I've got the Verve box, and frankly -- since I've never owned many of the albums before (either on LP, or as single CD's), they all run together (in my mind), without any of the material having any identity as far as original albums go. But I gotta say that I LOVE those roughly three CD's worth of previously unreleased live tracks, smack dab in the middle of the Verve box. Frankly, the box is such a HUGE pain in the ass (packaging-wise), that I would seriously think about buying that very same material (again) if it were issued separately as a three-disc set. Hell, if I remember right (my Verve box is buried in another box, at the moment, or I'd check), if I remember right... The material from those three CD's worth of live music, is spread across something like FOUR discs. (Like the last half of one disc, two more full discs, and then the first half of a forth disc.) What a pain!! Man, I sure hope this turns out to be a release of the complete material, 3 CD's. What are the odds?? (Probably 50/50, at best, is my guess.)
