  1. OK, I finally got on the site - but they only have one Andrew Hill title: "Beautiful Day". They don't even have "Point of Departure"??? Man, I've been searching for the cover to "Passing Ships" off and on for the last four days, ever since I noticed you could pre-order it now at Towerrecords.com, Amazon.com, BN.com, and several other of the typical offenders. But none of them have the artwork yet. You just yankin' my chain, Paul???
  2. Let me absolutely second the recomendation of "Rabih Abou-Khalil - Blue Camel" - for both Rabih, and specifically for this album, which is (IMHO) the finest of many great albums from him. 5 stars!!!
  3. Personally, I would not be interested in such a rigid "points"-based system, but to each their own. Based on the first test, I'd be lucky to get even a couple points at most. And I would think this would be the case for most people who are involved in the test.
  4. Count me in too!!! (Just PM'ed as well.)
  5. Yes, but not for the same "Yes"...
  6. In answer to the previous two posts... Da!!!!
  7. I haven't heard any of it yet, but I can't imagine it would be anything short of amazing. Probably a 5-star release, and no worse than 4-stars --- even just looking at it on paper.
  8. Well worth getting. The "compilation" idea stems from the fact that Kofi is made up of two different but very similar sessions, recorded within a few months of each other. Don't have mine handy, but some of the players are different between the sessions. But the album does hang together quite nicely, and doesn't feel like separate (unrelated) sessions. Get it, by all means. One of Byrd's very last dates before things changed considerably.
  9. It's a little known fact that there were really 13 different versions of Yes, not just the 10 included in this poll.
  10. Hey, somebody voted for "Yes #2". Yeah!!!!!!!!
  11. Wow, Yes numbers #2-#7, and #9 haven't gotten any votes yet. And if I hadn't voted for #8, it would only be a contest between Yes #1 and Yes #10.
  12. Certainly not "necessary", but each person running the AOTW can arrive at their decision however they like, with a poll, without a poll. whatever. I did a poll when my week came around, and it was helpful in figuring out what people were most interested in from among the several titles I was knocking around in my head as possible selections.
  13. What the hell magazine was "Crawdaddy"???
  14. I've still got a few of those Night Music shows on tape, and I'd love to see more someday. I think the ones I have include Sun Ra, Carla Bley and Steve Swallow, and Karen Mantler, also I vaguely remember having the one with Sting. GREAT show that Night Music.
  15. By the way, despite all my gif posting, I really don't have a dog in this fight (or at least not yet), mostly because I've never really given the RIAA all that much thought before.
  16. Thanks Chuck, very much appreciate your thoughts on this topic, and any other opinions you have on the topic. Feel free to post more, as I think many of us would be interested in more of your take on all this. Thanks!! -- RT
  17. FYI, we have two competing threads on this very same topic. Suggest we take it to the longer of the two threads, which is here: Universal Music to Cut CD Prices to Under $13 Good points made in this thread, perhaps they could be restated in the other one??? (Just an idea.)
  18. You name it, they got it...
  19. Let's all chip in and buy b3-er one of these!!!
  20. Chuck, I'd be curious to get your reaction. I don't have a dog in this fight, but I know that you bring a somewhat unique perspective to discussions like this, and I'd be interested in your thoughts on the matter. Thanks!! -- RT
