Rooster_Ties replied to Dmitry's topic in Live Shows & Festivals
Sure thing, Dmitry, sounds great!! Hey, can you swing by and get me?? - my car's in the shop this week. I live in midtown Kansas City, but if you want - I can meet you at someplace easier to find then my house. Do you know where "The Corner" restaurant is, at Broadway and Westport Road?? (Across from the bank.) Or how about near 39th & State Line Rd. (at that great Vietnamese restaurant next to the used book store - you know, the one across from the coffee house)?? Or, I can PM you with the address where I live, if you don't mind picking me up at home. Thanks!!!! - Looking forward to the show!!! Oh, what time did you want to meet to pick me up??? -- Rooster T. -

Pick A Number FROM 11 to 20!!!
Rooster_Ties replied to JSngry's topic in Miscellaneous - Non-Political
Good thing that 18 is leading in this poll, and not 16 - cuz I think you know from my post in the '1-10' thread my thoughts on 6. And my thoughts on 16 aren't much different. But just in case anybody doubts me, I'll take on every one of you people that voted for 16 if I have to. Not with fists, but with words. Words have power, and don't think I don't have the power of words. People will know about your 6 and 16 ways, and then they can make up their own minds about what they want to think. And if the band Organissimo wants to have that hanging over their careers from this board, then that's their choice. The power I have with words will be to use your own words against you - your words about the numbers 6 and 16 that show how you hate the other numbers that are loved the world over. Any more voting for 16 and I will be forced to get a court order to find out who voted for which numbers, in all the polls, so that the 6 people and the 16 people can't hide any more. You think I can't do it, but I can. Once you vote, the board software knows you voted - cuz it won't let you vote again. And if it knows you voted, it knows how you voted - and if I have to - I will bring you 6 people, and you 16 people out where the world can see you for who you are. See how you like that, before you go voting for numbers that have implications to them outside of your precious little board. I'm thinking about what I can do to the people who set up these polls, so that innocent children can vote for any number they like, without any kind of warning. Who included 6 and 16 in these polls?? And who set up the board softward to even allow 6 and 16 as choices in polls like this. I want answers, and I'll do what I have to, to get them. You have been warned, but not threatened, because this is just a promise. -

Oh, so then, you're saying you are one of those “6”sympathizers, huh??? The words that come to mind aren't fit to be typed. But if I so much as catch any of you '6' sickos over on the Norah board - I will not hesitate to take appropriate action. You may think of this as some sort of threat, but it’s only a threat if I say it’s a threat – and I’m not saying that it is a threat, or that it isn’t a threat. I’m just saying what I’m saying, you dig? And at this point, it’s just a promise that I’ll make good on if I’m forced to. So that doesn’t necessarily make it a threat, unless it is, but in this case it isn’t. And don’t think I’m not watching what goes on here, and not just in this thread either. I see that there’s ‘6’-lovers all over this board, and don’t think I don’t know there are, cuz there are, and I know there are. And you ‘16’-lovers in the “pick a number between 11 and 20” thread better watch out too, cuz you’re all the same as those that think ‘6’ is somehow an OK number - which, how could it be???? Now then, if you want to go back to being in favor of some decent numbers, like 4, or 7, or 1, or even 8 (just going to show that I can be a reasonable sort of guy), then maybe I won’t do the things that I might have to do if you keep forcing me to do them, which I might have to do. So there. I’ve said what I had to say, it’s all up to you now. But remember, I'll be watching, and I won't be the only ones either. -

I can't believe anyone voted for 6. I didn't vote for 4 (and nobody else has either), but I'll tell ya what - 4 is a hell of a lot better number than 6, any day of the week. Hell, 6 is ever worst than 10, and that's really saying something. Is there anyway to find out who voted for what?? - cuz I'd like to find those "6"-voters and given a good stern talking to. Geez - what the hell were they thinking!!!!! -
FYI, from one of the FAQ's, at one of the sites listed above... Can an IEM system feedback like conventional systems? The system cannot generate feedback because there is no open speaker which the microphone can feedback into. Is there a limiter? Yes - all Garwood systems incorporate a variable slope compressor / limiter system. So what happens if the engineer makes a mistake and overloads the input? The compressor / limiter system prevents sound levels exceeding the pre-set safety limit. This helps protect the wearer against sudden volume surges. With speakers in my ears, won't the level be louder? No. In fact the level will be lower. For a start, a lower listening level is possible because the audio signal is more precise. Secondly, for every user of in-ear monitoring, there is a reduction in the overall sound level generated on stage. This means that your monitor mix doesn't have to compete with the mixes of your fellow performers. Ironically, the result is a downward spiral of reducing volumes until you reach the absolute (as in the case of Rod Stewart) of no amplification whatsoever on stage. How can I control the volume? The discreet belt pack gives you complete control of the volume at all times.

Well, 7 is 1.9129311827723891011991168395475 cubed, so what's your point??? -
I would generally take Hub's comments about anything with a grain of salt. Seems like every interview I've read with him there have been a number of things he's said that made me go: . Can't cite anything specifically, but it seems he does have a creative memory - not that he's got a corner on that market, to be sure!!

I don't play, but that would scare me too. Surely there must be some sort of protection against really loud amplification directly into the ear-piece, wouldn't you think??? Anybody ever use one of these before??

Wow, another vote for Ike Willis!!!

FT: Tyrone Washington "Natural Essence" TOCJ
Rooster_Ties replied to undergroundagent's topic in Offering and Looking For...
This is a 5-star title in my book, and a real bear to find (at least on CD). Includes some of the best "progressive-leaning" Woody Shaw on record, IMHO. I think it was either Chuck or Jim who described Natural Esssnse as being "Avant-Boogaloo", a description I think really fits. Well worth having for those who love the more progressive titles on BN in the mid-to-late 60's, and who also love the more butt-shakin' "soul-jazz" BN's of the 60's. If you love early 60's John Coltrane, and also love John Patton's late 60's work (especially Patton's "Boogaloo"), IMHO you need this title. No organ on this date, but any and all fans of Larry Young's more progressive work ("Mother Ship" for example) really need this title. Get it!!! - dig??? (No, undergroundagent didn't pay me to say any of that, although I have done business with him before, and he's an 'on the level' guy - at least in all the deals I've ever done with him.) -
Only good thing about Wal*Mart are their large CD cover images.....

Modern Rock - what do you like???
Rooster_Ties replied to Rooster_Ties's topic in Miscellaneous Music
Thought of another one. My wife really likes Fiona Apple, and although I found her first album a little less meaty than I would have liked (although my wife really likes it) - I do really like her second album quite a bit, and I look forward to her future releases. -
Actually, although I was only half kidding when I said Ike Willis, if I got serious about the question... I'd probably say my personal favorite would be Curtis Mayfield.

Go to the drugstore and buy a bag of those cheap foam earplugs, and stash 'em in your bench - so you always have some handy. You might also consider getting fit for some custom earplugs, which will dampen the sound equally across the entire frequency range. Most foam earplugs don't block the low bass enough, and some hearing damage can still occur. Although, the foam jobbies are 100 times better than nothing at all. Here's a link to one brand: Musician's Earplugs (There may be other brands, maybe.) My Mom is an audiologist (or rather 'was', she's retired now), and insisted I get some of these for going to rock concerts and such. I also used them on-stage sometimes when I sing in the chorus of big "bombastic" choral works, with full orchestra. They consist of a custom-fit ear plug (made from molds of your own ear canals), and there are two kinds of filters you can pop in and out, one that cuts the overall sound levels by 15db, and the other cuts everything by 25db. I'm not 100% sure if the link I provided was to the brand I have (there may be multiple brands - maybe?), but they sure look the same, since the 'black' filters are the 15db ones, and the 'light-colored' filters are the 25db ones. (The look the same as mine, is what I'm trying to say.) They aren't cheap - I think they run around $100, maybe $150 (not sure, I got mine probably 8 years ago), but they are really worth it. I think you can be fit for them by any quality audiologist in your own area. If you have any other questions, I'll be glad to dig for some more info about them, or ask my Mom.

I used to own the 2CD U.S. release, but traded in back after I had it for about a year. Didn't do much for me. Now I wish I had it again, but then if I got it again, I'm sure I'd find it sorely lacking, and want to trade it again. Chuck's explaination makes sense to me.
-
Stay the fuck away from eBay, that's my advice to you - my friend. Trades are good - eBay is bad. Don't even 'window-shop' on eBay. Just don't even go there...

As of now (June 1st), I've purchased less than $100 worth of music since late November of 2002 (so that's 6 months). Before that, I was probably spending between $100 and $250 per month (every month!) on Music, for the prior 5 years. There's about three Mosaics I'm dying to get now (Byrd/Adams, Turrentine, and I forget the third one), along with most all of the Mosaic Selects. But I'll hafta wait until I get a job again (I lost my job in January). We're surviving fine on my wife's income, but I'd be in so much shit if I was spending money we couldn't affort to spend on music. So, all in all, I'd say less than $100 in the past 6 months is quite a turn-around for me.

Oh, man - my favorite date was this hot blond school-teacher I met through the 'personals' ads about 8 years ago, and... Oh, wait!! - that's not the kind of date you're asking about, is it...
