  1. Be sure to listen to "Power To The People", which I think you already did if you heard disc #2 (tracks 6-12). "Power To The People" is my all-time favorite non-BN album by Joe Henderson!!!!! :rsmile: :rsmile: :rsmile: And by the way, I might add that Joe is my all-time favorite tenor player.
  2. Hello???!!!!!! AMG: McCoy Tyner - "The Real McCoy" McCoy's "The Real McCoy" has nearly the same exact line-up as Joe's "Inner Urge", same instrumentation, Elvin, and only the bass player is different. Yet another one for Basra!!!! Also, be sure to get Joe's "Mode For Joe", but WAIT - it's coming out as a U.S. RVG this Fall. DON'T get the current issue. It sounds OK (I guess), but I'd wait. GREAT album ("Mode For Joe"), probably my all-time favorite Joe Henderson album.
  3. In case nobody's said this yet, let me extend a nice big-headed "Howdy" and "Welcome!!!" to you, on behalf of all of us here on the Organissimo board. From the sounds of things (just from your two posts, so far), I think you're gonna fit in right-nice!! - Glad you're here!!! Stick around - we're an odd bunch, but (at least we'd like to think) we're lot's of fun to hang around with. Cheers... -- Rooster T.
  4. Well, b3-er, why don't you register as "Wayne Shorter", post something about an upcoming concert of his (Wayne's), and find out!!!
  5. Wow, thanks for the extra smileys, b3!!! Now, is there anyway we can get a "rolleyes" that isn't smiling??? The is I'm afraid... Needs to be be a "rolleyes" with either a straight-across mouth (no smile, but not a frown), or maybe smirking mouth. Sorry to be pushy with this one request, but us Groove Merchants like to throw our weight around a bit, ya know.
  6. So, Use3D (or b3-er), is there another level after 'Goove Merchant'??? If so, when does it hit? 2,000?? - 2,500??? - 5,000???? God help me if it isn't till 10,000!!! (Or better yet, are there multiple levels yet to be had??)
  7. So, riddle me this, Use3D... How come your "total number of posts" only says "1"???? Are you saying all your posts (except the one I quoted) were really just spam?????
  8. Yeah, that does count - forgot about that one!!! Hell, Andrew Hill's on it too - so that tips it over in the progressive corner for sure!!!
  9. Awe, thanks!! Gosh, 't weren't nothin'...
  10. Hey Eric, did the Hill set ever show back up again??? I checked at Music Exchange about a day after you started this thread, and they didn't have it. Hope you found it, but fear you probably didn't...
  11. Hey b3-er, you mention that Santana was very receptive to the idea. As in making a contribution?? Or maybe (I know, the chances of this are 1 in a Million), receptive to the idea of playing the date??? In any case, thanks for the update!!! Good to hear that you have "The Turbanator" on-board. Best of luck with setting up the rest!!!
  12. Not that I follow the Japanese reissues all that closely, but I'm kinda curious about this too. By any chance, are either of them chance titles that haven't ever been released on CD otherwise?? (Except, perhaps, as part of some Mosaic box set??)
  13. Hey b3-er, check out his "commisions" - as there are at least a couple album covers in there. You might contact him and see what he says. (Can't hurt, can it?) Many of his paintings are (IMHO) really incredible, and of course the mosaic of Elvin is just "to die for"!!! B) B) B)
  14. T-minus 20, and counting......
  15. OK, in the spirit of us all just "getting along", I just posted this in the thread on the AAJ board... Hope that characterized things accurately.
  16. Where's Musicboy when you need him??????!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  17. FYI, there are now a couple replies from xricci (the AJJ board admin) to the thread over at AAJ about this topic... http://forums.allaboutjazz.com/showthread....=&threadid=1778
  18. I was lucky enough to hear Interpol when they played live here in Kansas City, back in January. They were really incredible, despite the fact that they played all the tunes - note for note - exactly the same as they were on the record. Still, their energy and charisma was unmatched by any rock band I've seen in the last 5 or even 10 years. Interpol will be interesting to follow, especially to hear what they do for a follow-up album. I have a theory that they could be the next "Radiohead", but that's still pretty iffy at this point. Still, they've had as good a debut rock album by any band I think I've ever heard in the last 20 years. The only thing I have even think of that comes close, as far as a debut showing THAT much potential, was maybe Living Colour's first album.
