  1. Good to see Joe is still going strong! Such a great drummer!
  2. This week these arrived from the big Christmas order (with thanks to my parents in law, such a pity they hate jazz): On vinyl: On CD:
  3. Funny you say that. I am active there from time to time and I am stunned by their obsession with sound quality. I seriously heard someone say there that he really disliked some records. Until they came out as a Tone Poet. Then he suddenly liked them. How do those kind of people listen to music?
  4. Oh boy am I turning into an audiophile?
  5. Thanks I did not knew that!
  6. Not necessarily a no brainer for me but definitely interested.
  7. Thanks Clifford. Unfortunately the original is a little expensive to try out. I think I know what you mean with that charm. I don’t think that’s the issue with the Soul Jazz reissue. Especially because side b sounds even worse than side a. I have read more complaints about it. But no reviews of the Universal Sound edition
  8. Ive got the 2019 Soul Jazz reissue of his Nova album. And the sound.... really sucks. Does anyone know if that album wasn't recorded well? Or is for example the 2008 reissue on Universal Sound better?
  9. The Group LP is a solid date but I expected a little more hence the names on it....
  10. For me too! It was one of my fathers jazz records and he was really the one that got me into jazz. His collection was a bit limited but Mulligan was one of the artists that was present. And this very record remained one of my favorites by him (and generally in jazz).
  11. Yeah NoBuisness is a Lithuanian label.
  12. Ok, than you don’t....
  13. Sorry to hear that. Probably has something to do with the Brex.... maybe they resume shipping within time. Worth contacting. They are pretty customer friendly.
  14. That’s probably the best.... being patient is not one of my qualities...
  15. Anyone who knows the exact release date of this? DG says around 20th of January, Juno says February 12th. Nimbus says.... well nothing
  16. That’s nice to hear Mike! He is also great on ‘Hard Talk’
  17. I could really recommend this website: https://www.walvisproducts.co.uk/ they are located in The Netherlands, not in the UK. They ship to all EU countries. Their Jewel Cases are exactly those you get buying a new cd. I can recommend their Vinyl sleeves also by the way. hou could find their jewel cases here: https://www.walvisproducts.co.uk/c-4612532/cd-boxes-trays-jewel-cases/
  18. What a loss. One of the last remaining pianists from that classic era.

    Byard Lancaster

Pity those Palm records are mostly hard to find.
  20. Not on my version fortunately I was pretty impressed with the sounds of this Tone Poet btw.
  21. That must have been a very impressive experience!
  22. Oh yeah got my eye on that one already! I started my collection with cd’s so still plenty of space for LP’s
  23. Tapscott, Tapscott, Tapscott.... been listening quite a lot to him these days and I think this is going to be my favorite. What a great musician!
  24. @Rabshakeh Pretty good record this is but nothing that blows you away probably. It’s a bit weird in places: some funk, freebop and spoken word. Something that needs a few listens. But definitely interesting music!

Thanks guy, did not think of the Murray dates. I know them but forgot Lancaster played on them. No leader dates? The Rib Crib disk is on my 'to listen' list That kind of music is mostly my cup of tea.
