  1. so glad this one was selected for the TP series. I just love Andrew Hill. I could definitely see why Matthew Shipp mentioned him in his ‘Black Mystery School Pianists.’ A true original on the instrument.
  2. As I was listening to the Sankt Gerold Tapes by Evan Parker, Barre Philips and Paul Bley I really enjoyed the parts where Phillps was soloing. Well I enjoyed every single part of the album but it made me realize i havent got a solo bass record. So my question: what are your favorite bass solo albums? Thy may only name five
  3. Really like his sound on that one. A favorite of mine
  4. I've always liked Heart is a Melody and the Live album a lot. Not so much into the other stuff so I am not picking this up. But I must say: very nice to see Mosaic selecting less obvious material for a new set
  5. I always find this series highly enjoyable and among Petersons best work.
  6. Agreed and very recognizable. When I was in Gent last weekend I visited 5 record stores and didn't buy anything, nor had I seen anything interesting. They all had a coffee bar filled with people who probably call themselves 'hip'. Some of them had enourmous ammounts of second hand bins with the same 1 dollar crap. All unsorted which really doesn't make me want to explore anymore. Small jazz sections with the same Duke Ellington and Coleman Hawkins compilation LP's no one is interested in. Yikes...
  7. Yeah that’s a great one. I love Elmo Hope. I agree. There are some very good arts but also less interesting parts. It’s too inconsistent.
  8. Great stuff! Would love to visit if I’m London. Still looking for the ‘90’s Vortex recording by the same trio.
  9. For only 10 a piece a special price according to Barry Guys wife! Happy to the add these to the collection.
  10. Yeah! So glad to have seen them. Evan Parker, Barry Guy and Paul Lovens. They only played for like 45 minutes but it was worth the long drive. Their playing was amazing, still at the same level as ten, twenty, or thirty years ago. the whole setting was lovely. Admission was completely free, a festival setting in the middle of a park in Gent, Belgium. I walked in a half hour before the start, got myself a nice Belgian Tripel, sat down listening to the birds for a while and then these guys started playing. Unforgettable experience. After the concert I was able to buy three cds by them for only 10 euros a piece from Barry Guys wife
  11. Yeah I once made the mistake to skip a McCoy Tyner gig, thinking he would come to the Netherlands again but he didn’t and died a year later. I very much regretted that decision. Evan Parker plays in Belgium so that’s a 3 hours a drive for me but I decided to bring me wife and make it a two day trip to the city of Gent
  12. Preparing for seeing mister Parker live coming Thursday! I now also see I need to dust off my Kallax 😳
  13. Steve’s last solo recording. Captured in great sound.
  14. I agree fully great line up
  15. That’s one my Adderley favorites. Great stuff indeed.
  16. I’ve read some reviews here and there on the internet by attenders of several gigs that her latest concerts are not good. Some say she seems to be drunk or intoxicated forgetting lyrics and tunes to play, mumbling instead of singing. I don’t know. I’m no fan but hope she’s okay.
  17. it surprised me that it wasn’t sold out but that there were THAT little people shocked me. You know the Bimhuis of course Niko so both the right and left section were completely empty and the middle section was probably filled only half. I seriously think there were less than 50 people. I felt secondhand embarrassment… Artists of this stature don’t deserve that.
