Yeah I could imagine that. I’ve seen how the average customer treats books in libraries…. I was surprised by the condition of this one. It’s not even NM, it’s M. As you say Tyler probably wasn’t very popular and not rented out a lot.

Well there we go. Of course there is a little decolorization and residue visible but it looks pretty damn good. And most importantly: the vinyl itself is in absolute mint condition! So I conclude: for 35 euros, I made a pretty sweet deal. (That doesn’t happen to me too often…)

That was the first Tone Poet I bought and yes it sounds amazing. It was for me also the album that made me decide I had to own every Hutch on Blue Note.

Well soon I've got a nice copy to test this method. I just ordered a copy of Charles Tylers 'Saga of the Outlaws'. In great condition but the sleeve is full of ugly library stickers. That's why I only paid 35 euros where EU based copies on Discogs go for 100 euro plus. But now of course the question is: will those stickers come off smoothly? If so I made a pretty sweet deal. If not i've probably paid for what it's actually worth....

Damn I feel like such a fool again. I've got some items in my wantlist that are pricey for they are rare and issued only once or twice. I'll keep them in that wantlist for years hoping for a reissue. Then after a long time, when I see a reasonable but still pricey offer I decide to jump on an original. Live in Berlin was one of them and I bought it only a month ago.... I should have been more patient. I've had the same thing with Curtis Amy's Groovin' Blue where Blue Note announcent it was goint to be a Tone Poet only 2 months after I ordered an original pressing..... But still good news of course, especially for those who don't have the music. This was a particularly strong period for Noah Howard and I really enjoy that record. Also an opportunity to buy Schizphrenic Blues. Anyone who knows this label? Is it legit and to they work with tapes or digital files?

I'm really in a Steve Lacy mood these days so I was triggered immediatly but a little dissapointed by the samples. I really don't dig that guitar. Curious if there's more to come in these First Visit series! Can't say I like their move to public domain issues but Hat remains a label with quite an impressive catalogue. I'd say the artwork on this Steve Lacy issue is very nice.

This isn’t going to help you in anyway but: 1. I know how you’re feeling. One of those moments you realize how important a good night of sleep is 2. It will get better in a few days fortunately 3. I decided to wait a little for some reviews first but very glad I got it. Nothing out but very intense. 23 years old Jack playing his arse off, amazing! I’d say the sound is good for a live record from this period. I hear enough bass.

wow what a great record this is. I’d say it’s pretty unique in sound. The bonus track is definitely must have. Recorded pretty rough but must say it adds up to the dark atmosphere. Can’t go wrong with Daniel, Khan Jamal and Jerome Cooper.

Their pricing seems very randomly chosen. Weird because i've had some good experiences with Mion Berlin. They were selling Japanese vinyl for pretty reasonable prices.

I wasn’t aware of that. They did some vinyl reissues in the past decade I believe. Never heard one. I do know that some of them miss essential tracks that the cd does have. Like Johnny Dyani’s Somg for Biko: that one misses the amazing track Lonely Flower at the Village.

an MJQ favorite. Don’t know if it’s his best but definitely among his best. That’s such a great record. Addictive music. Joe made lot of great music for that label back than. Happy to see it spinning on your turntable now Mark enjoy!

When I saw the last vinyl copies sold for 400+ dollars and a cd copy popped up from a Dutch seller I decided to quit my quest for the LP and buy the cd. Contains an extra track as well
