  1. Yes, as usual.
  2. Perhaps not if you keep on lowering taxes (especially on the rich) and increasing spending on the military. The fact is a postal service to remote parts of the country needs to exist for society to function. The same goes for public transport. You can't just abolish these services without creating major backwater problem areas, like what happened in the Unites States.
  3. It's not one I was interested in. I had simply bookmarked every Blue Note release from July and August at CD Japan and noticed these two discs going on backorder and shortly after sold out/out of print status.
  4. Like healthcare. Privatisation only leads to rising costs and unequal treatment. Obviously a healthy population, decent (power) infrastructure, a working postal system etc. contribute to a successful economy.

  6. I don't regret a single Emanem & Psi release I bought. Great music and very high production standards.
  7. I ordered the latest Japanese remaster, UCCQ-9525, earlier tonight. Seemed like a standout Horace Silver album.
  8. You should do a Google search of past Organissimo discussion of Morning Song and David Murray's abilities (at that point in time). LOL! Harsh. I like the Black Saint albums, by the way.
  9. There are one or two reviews in the media that comment on the sound. From memory, it was recorded as if you are sitting in the middle of a concert hall. You hear a lot of room and little fine detail. All very distant. Perhaps a classical record store in Groningen has a copy of the set you could sample on good headphones? I imagine the sound will divide people as more customer reviews come in. For now I have decided to ignore the set. Perhaps in a years time I will change my mind, but I don't think so. Hopefully Levit's next release will revert to regular studio sound. I love all he's done previously.
  10. Heads up. The Blue Note titles with new masterings from July and August are already going out of print at CD Japan. So far: UCCQ-9491 Introducing Kenny Burrell and UCCQ-9516 Total Eclipse.
  11. Both albums in full. No extras.
  12. I was curious to see what you would make of it.
  13. Radically different recording from his debut 2CD of the last five sonatas from 2013. The recording quality of the earlier sonatas distracted me from forming an opinion about the performances. A major disappointment. The copy I pre-ordered at amazon.de arived damaged, so I had to return it unopened. A stroke of good luck. The files I downloaded with bitorrent out of curiosity (now deleted from my harddrive, of course) are all I will ever need to hear from this set. Awful.
  14. Correction on my previous post. I had forgotten the Braxton. Quartet (New Haven) 2014 by Anthony Braxton (Firehouse 12 Records) The People I Love by Steve Lehman Trio + Craig Taborn (Pi Records) Chiasm by Evan Parker & Kinetics (Clean Feed) Combobulated by Tom Rainey Trio with Mary Halvorson and Ingrid Laubrock (Intakt)
  15. I'm rewatching now, and it's pretty great.
  16. There are two great Rotterdam performances left from 1967 and 1969. Both were rebroadcast by the BBC in the early 2000s, so the tapes must still exist. How about releasing those.
  17. That's a real shame, but ... Quote:"A volume covering the early 1980s was to include issued and unissued material from the Star People and Decoy sessions, along with some contemporary live performances, but that project has been canceled." no way in hell I would have bought that.
