  1. So you mods consider Romualdo's little accident an impromptu competency test?
  2. Copy paste the following in the Google search bar for the deleted thread: cache:http://www.organissimo.org/forum/index.php?/topic/80702-timesolid-japanese-reissues-may-2017/ My previous post on the Time SHM-CDs: A selection of 10 albums from the Time catalogue was reissued on SHM-CD in 2008 by Victor Japan. These discs were remastered by Bernie Grundman (there's a photo of Grundman on the OBI and in the booklet). I have the Sonny Clark Trio and it contains 14 tracks, one more previously unreleased track than the Hoffman mastered SACD, namely an extra alternate take of Nica. Sound is also best on the Grundman. The albums with bonus tracks are highlighted in red. I don't know how many more of these were previously unreleased at the time. VICJ-61541 Booker Little - Booker Little VICJ-61542 Sonny Clark Trio - Sonny Clark Trio (14 tracks total) VICJ-61543 Max Roach - Award-Winning Drummer (11 tracks total) VICJ-61544 Terry Gibbs with Alice Coltrane - My Way VICJ-61545 Kenny Dorham - Jazz Contemporary (11 tracks total) VICJ-61546 Kenny Dorham - Showboat VICJ-61547 Bennie Green - Bennie Green VICJ-61548 Stanley Turrentine - Stan "The Man" Turrentine VICJ-61549 Tommy Turrentine - Tommy Turrentine VICJ-61550 Jackie Paris - Jackie Paris Sings The Lyrics Of Ira Gershwin (21 tracks total) And: I think Solid's Bethlehem discs were loud, borderline tolerable. However, their later Timeless reissues were not (significantly) louder than the original Dutch CDs, but no sonic upgrades either. Just equally good given the quality of the recordings. (I was able to download the Adams/Pullen discs in FLAC and compare them to the original CDs in my collection.)
  3. Miles Davis - On The Corner (MFSL, hybrid SACD)
  4. Miles Davis - Jack Johnson (MFSL, hybrid SACD) Finally a version that does not sound loud like the Sony metal spine set. Excellent sound. Same goes for On The Corner MFSL. The On The Corner metal spine set was ridiculously loud imo.
  5. I have yet to receive a cancellation, so I guess my order will ship ...
  6. Good album. I bought it primarily for Rosenwinkel and Eubanks.
  7. Inevitably a scan of the text and photos accompanying the vinyl will make its way onto the internet. I'm glad to hear this is an excellent recording and performance. I'll get the CD asap.
  8. I picked up a copy of the APO SACD of Coleman Hawkins Encounters Ben Webster at my local record store today. All these APO Verve SACDs sound terrific. Mastered by George Marino.
  9. Thanks for the tip, Mike. The Threadgill did not show up on their Mosaic Box Sets page, but an individual search brought it to light: http://www.jazzmessengers.com/en/8162/henry-threadgill/novus-and-columbia-recordings I was able to order a copy. There's at least one set left at the moment. €140 with free world wide shipping.
  10. Jewel cases are easily replaceable and keep the artwork safe. Occasional problems with hard to remove discs usually resolve themselves after the first couple of removals. Or just replace the tray. Don't you people have spare parts lying around? Oh the glorious pops, clicks, scratches, degradation, and warping of vinyl. So unlike buying instant junk or winning ephemera in a lottery.
  11. Happy birthday, Chuck! If it weren't past midnight here I'd put on a great Nessa recording to celebrate.
  12. Jazz Messengers has Magic in Munich, Firm Roots, and The Highest Mountain all in stock. Magic in Munich seems rarest on the internet, so is perhaps oldest? What about the audio quality of the Bimhuis gig? The audio samples on Amazon were a bit underwhelming.
  13. I'm thinking of now ordering his Steeplechase albums on CD. Do you know if Steeplechase still sells real CDs instead of CD-rs?
  14. Clifford Jordan - Glass Bead Games (BOM24104, 2006 mini-lp)
  15. Indeed. And a very diverse set of albums. Even among the shamelessly commercial stuff there is some gold like Directstep.
  16. I love his two albums with Miguel Zenón, Melaza and Travesía.
  17. In tribute to Larry's new thread Album covers with artists in undershirts Album covers with artists in just their socks: Van Kooten & De Bie 'Draaikonten'.
  18. Sonny Clark Trio (Time), Victor Japan SHM-CD, VICJ-61542.
  19. I just received an answer to a query at Jazz Messengers. They expect to receive a shipment from Mosaic today. They'll have to wait and see what Mosaic has sent them. By Wednesday the new stock should be visible on their website.

  21. I should email Mosaic to be sure then, otherwise I would end up paying more on customs duty if the order ships as two parcels.
