  1. If you place an order at Mosaic containing both a back ordered (supposedly back in June) and an already available set they will wait until both sets are in stock for the order to ship internationally, right?
  2. Igor Levit playing Beethoven's Hammerklavier sonata. Levit is a genius.
  3. Better Call Saul season 3 episode 5. Huge pay off for two seasons of loyal viewing this week. And Huell!
  4. I'm going to get the CD asap.
  5. I still haven't finished this, but not because it isn't good. I got distracted by several fiction books that did a better job of holding my attention. I also usually read two or more non-fiction books at the same time. Dennett does take his time to get to his explanation of consciousness, however. A lot of groundwork in the first half. I never read Consciousness Explained, so I can't compare, but his ideas have evolved, so if you never read any Dennett, this latest book is probably the best pick. Hopefully the later chapters will deliver. My mind isn't blown yet.
  6. Thank you for taking the time, Lon. I have put the Monk in my Jazz Messengers cart. The Hank Mobley was already in there.
  7. That's the one. I believe it has the same mastering as the SHM-CD from 2011.
  8. I just read the following in the Netherlands' premier quality newspaper, NRC Handelsblad, in an article on streaming. This section is a discussion of a Kamasi Washington themed playlist: "inspirator Alice Coltrane, mother of John Coltrane who with his spiritual jazz classic A Love Supreme laid the foundations for Kamasi Washington's album." I bought a copy to read about the French election, but still ...
  9. I just bought a copy of a Japanese reissue of Glass Bead Games to be safe. I thought that was probably the best album of that set, so I won't lose sleep over missing out on the Mosaic.
  10. The recent Japanese reissue.
  11. Yes, and they have free worldwide shipping.
  12. George Carlin - I Kinda Like it When a Lotta People Die In particular, tracks 2 (Rats and Squealers), 6 (The First Enema), and 7 (Uncle Dave).
  13. Very glad I got the Woody Shaw Muse set from Jazz Messengers as soon as the news broke. Excellent set, at least the first five discs. The penultimate session recorded by Rudy Van Gelder sounds especially thin. But the pre-Columbia albums are all great music. No complaints. I have come to the conclusion that Ahmad Jamal is not my thing. And the Benedetti set, well, I don't think I listen to Bird often enough to justify spending €125 on it.
  14. I'm currently looking at what else might possibly be of interest to me. I have been curious about the Benedetti set since reading the Penguin review. Possibly the Ahmad Jamal. I would have to do some research & listening before deciding on either of them, though. The Dial and Savoy sets' sound samples have been a deterrent for me.
  15. I wouldn't mind three new bootleg series sets every two years.
  16. Absolutely. All the Selects I ordered from Jazz Messengers were packaged in sturdy cardboard boxes and arrived in mint condition.
  17. And a new first violinist and cellist, I believe.
  18. I'm not familiar with the earlier Tokyo on Sony, but this Harmonia Mundi set is kind of a bargain. If you enjoy their approach, you get great performances and sound for comparatively little money.
