  1. An audience not completely bereft of good taste?
  2. Latest Jazz Messengers order: Anthony Braxton & Miya Masaoka - Duo (DCWM) 2013; Braxton paired with a 21 string koto sounds real good. Sample here. Orrin Evans - #knowingishalfthebattle; With Kurt Rosenwinkel and Kevin Eubanks.
  3. Hadn't heard about the Glasper incident. Good riddance then. I hope the new lineup will visit the Bimhuis as often as the old did.
  4. Last year's covers album, It's Hard, was weak. Time for Reid Anderson to make another album as leader. Abolish Bad Architecture and The Vastness of Space were great.
  5. Like Jim said, $11.04 from Classical Music Superstore TN, USA at Amazon.com. They have 99% positive feedback. https://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B01CQ2RPRK/ref=tmm_acd_new_olp_0?ie=UTF8&condition=new&qid=&sr=
  6. I guess it is just hip to shit on KOB a bit, it being so accessible. Every record can grow stale due to overexposure, but true gems will always shine again after being left alone for a while.
  7. Kind of Blue UltraHD CD. I haven't listened this much to Kind of Blue since the nineties. Sublime.
  8. Thanks. The YouTube videos of a poor needle drop left me in doubt.
  9. Sonny Rollins' Worktime from the Prestige 7000 Chronicle SHM-CD series.
  10. Masada Live in Sevilla 2000. I'm feeling that Brexit vibe. This really was a great reissue series. When I compare the Saxophone Colossus Prestige 7000 Chronicle SHM-CD to the CD-layer of the recent Kevin Gray APO hybrid SACD I cannot readily tell them apart on my system, unlike previous CD reissues of this album like the Japanese DSD remaster form 2008.
  11. What's the sound quality of the vinyl like? Is this a good recording?
  12. Last CD I bought was the MFSL of Some Day My Prince Will Come (MFCD 828) from 1990 with the original Teo Macero mix. Nothing wrong with the Mark Wilder remix, but there is a clear difference. Good to have alongside all the other more recent MFSL Miles Davis SACDs with original mixes.
  13. Who here is familiar with Mal Wadron's The Opening on Futura? This was recently re-issued, but is already out of stock at Jazzmessengers (link). One copy available on Discogs. Probably not in the same league as the pretty great Meditations: Live at Dug, but still ...
  14. €7,95 for 50 grams at Simon Lévelt (link).
  15. Paco de Lucia Almoraima, the old Philips CD.
  16. Yes, that would be ideal, if I could try one at home for a few days. Come to think of it, my old region free DVD player had SACD capability, but I gave it to my parents years ago. That unit was quite poor quality anyway, but my parents like it because it's the same colour as their television.
  17. Daniel C. Dennett From Bacteria to Bach and Back: The Evolution of Minds
  18. I am glad this album introduced me to Paco DeLucia, but I really only care for albums the Spaniard made under his own name, like Fuente Y Caudal, Almoraima, Castro Marin (some McLaughlin on here), and Siroco.
