This is being reissued by the Somethin' Cool label. Anyone heard of them? Is this even legit? It sure is prohibitively expensive, but the sound samples on Hmv are appealing. http://somethincool.net/ Sound samples

By coincidence, the breeder named my golden retriever Archie. He can run around quite wildly when let off the leash, but at other times he's all cuddly and sentimental.

What live music are you going to see tonight?

Several good concerts coming up at the Bimhuis. Yesterday, I booked tickets for Dave Liebman & Richie Beirach duo (May), and the Steve Lehman Octet (November). -
OK, point taken about the "fixed" gambit. Post deleted. As for the pop material, if you live long enough you'll enjoy playing with Playmobil again, I guess.

The first four episodes have been somewhat underwhelming.

The Joe Lovano Quartet at the Bimhuis tonight, with Lawrence Fields on piano, Peter Slavov on bass, and Lemy Estrefi on drums. Terrific concert. -
Was fairly good. Now, Daredevil season 2, introduces The Punisher.

Another bullshit release. For CD, the original early Atlantic CDs (stereo) still sound best, except for My Favorite Things get the Bernie Grundman remastered hybrid SACD by ORG Music.

Ófærð (Trapped). Ten part Icelandic crime series through the BBC broadcast.

Joe Henderson Recommendations ("middle years"?)
erwbol replied to LouisvillePrez's topic in Recommendations
Don't forget this recent reissue: Joe Henderson and Kikuchi Hino in Concert (UCCJ-9208). Already OOP at CD Japan, but still available on eBay. Recorded the day after Joe Henderson in Japan (Milestone) with a different lineup. Also great, In Pursuit of Blackness. Contains a track from the lighthouse concert not on the CD release A Lark Ascending posted, though the real draw are the three studio tracks. -

I wonder if we'll ever see that collector's squat cobbler video ... Reposted with the added benefit of images.

"Some material I played depended upon the musicians who were working with me. I don’t think I ever played ‘Disco Monk’ with another group." Probably for the best.

More $7 copies of the Braxton have been made available by this seller after the two that were listed yesterday were sold. https://www.discogs.com/sell/release/8069081?ev=rb

A Braxton 2 CD for just $7 and a Mitchell CD for $5. What's there to complain about? You prefer to eventually pay $20 extra at the local brick and mortar?
-
Available from the same Brazillian seller through Discogs for only $5. https://www.discogs.com/Roscoe-Mitchell-Sustain-And-Run-Ao-Vivo-Jazz-Na-FÁBrica/release/8069061 sound clips here: http://www.sescsp.org.br/online/selo-sesc/349_JAZZ+NA+FABRICA+ROSCOE+MITCHELL+E+ANTHONY+BRAXTON+NO+SELO#/tagcloud=lista (Same page as for the Braxton release.) The Mitchell is a solo disc. You can read the entire CD booklets for both the Mitchell and the Braxton on the sound clips page through the two interactive features.

Shipping from Brazil is $8 to the EU and US, though I didn't think post from South America would pass through Donald Trump's Diamond Curtain Wall. Thanks for alerting us to this release. Trio (Victoriaville) 2007, Quartet (Moscow) 2008, and Quartet (Mestre) 2008 were excellent, but these Brazilian shows are from 6 to 7 years later. For the younger musicians in Braxton's group like Halvorson that is quite a while. I look forward to comparing them. The Diamond Curtain Wall albums mentioned above are imo among the very best of Braxton's 21st century releases.

Only $7 through this Brazilian record store on Discogs! (LocomotivaBR, www.locomotivadiscos.com.br) One copy left. I ordered the other. More copies have been made available by this seller. https://www.discogs.com/sell/release/8069081?ev=rb The Discogs page for this release: https://www.discogs.com/Anthony-Braxton-Quartet-Ao-Vivo-Jazz-Na-Fábrica/release/8069081 Anthony Braxton Quartet – Ao Vivo Jazz Na Fábrica (Selo SESC SP, CDSS 0066/15)

OK, seems official. Brazilian label. Sound clips: http://www.sescsp.org.br/online/selo-sesc/349_JAZZ+NA+FABRICA+ROSCOE+MITCHELL+E+ANTHONY+BRAXTON+NO+SELO#/tagcloud=lista Order from Brazil (Portuguese): http://www.sescsp.org.br/livraria/3438_AO+VIVO+JAZZ+NA+FABRICA+ANTHONY+BRAXTON+QUARTET#/content=detalhes-do-produto Booklet has colour reproductions of the painted scores. Nice. -------------- The price in Brazil is only R$30. That's about $8. Ordering through Laubrock's site is $26 + $12.75 international shipping. Add to that possible customs charges and this becomes a very expensive item.
