  1. Latest Jazz Messengers order: Anthony Braxton - Quintet (Basel) 1977 Jonathan Finlayson & Sicilian Defense - Moving Still Mary Halvorson Octet - Away With You
  2. Last concert I attended was the fabulous Steve Lehman Octet at the Bimhuis in November. I'd love to see the Tom Rainey Trio with Laubrock and Halvorson play Amsterdam in 2017. Hotel Grief is an oustanding album.
  3. Mokalbari second flush (summer) black tea from Assam, India.

  12. I just made a $104 donation so all my tolerant, narcissistic friends can keep on discussing music here at Org.
  13. Regardless, this is official. Their 1960 Miles Davis Quintet release is excellent.
  14. Instant Jazz. The same seller from Halle, Belgium (near Brussels) is also active on Discogs as nickel2011. Their mail is picked up once a week by PostNL (Netherlands), and last week's pickup was sadly cancelled due to the terror attack, so the CD has not yet been delivered. However, I have ordered through them in the past without issues.
  15. At the Schlippenbach Trio concert last December he was humming along a bit. He seemed quite good-humoured when addressing the audience.
  16. That looks good! I ordered the Sant'Anna Arresi Quintet CD last week, and might get the new duo disc as well.

  18. I won't be watching this as I've been living it for over four decades.
  19. On with season 2.
  20. Tomorrow's Roy Hargrove concert at the Bimhuis got cancelled at least two weeks ago, I believe. It says on the website due to illness. Could this be a drugs related illness? "Much to his regret, due to medical reasons Roy Hargrove has cancelled his upcoming European tour. He hopes to recover soon to resume touring."
  21. Daniel Barenboim on Deutsche Grammophon. One of their early eighties digital recordings.
  22. I gave away my Beethoven piano sonatas set because the performance and recording quality were not agreeable. This situation needs rectifying.
  23. What words come to mind when we think of God? Merciful? Just? Compassionate? In fact, the Bible lays out God's primary qualities clearly: jealous, petty, unforgiving, bloodthirsty, vindictive - and worse. Originally conceived as a joint presentation between influential thinker and bestselling author Richard Dawkins (who wrote the foreword) and former evangelical preacher Dan Barker, this unique book provides an investigation into what may be the most unpleasant character in all fiction. Barker combs through both the Old and New Testament (as well as 13 different editions of the 'Good Book'), presenting powerful evidence for why the Scripture shouldn't govern our everyday lives. This witty, well-researched book suggests that we should move past the Bible and clear a path to a kinder and more thoughtful world.
