  1. Ugh! Time to make more room on that Lacy shelf haha...
  2. Hank Mobley "no room for squares" (blue note ny USA, stereo) Steve Reid " rhythmatism" (mustevic, USA) Edward Vesala "lumi" (ECM, Germany)
  3. Had a few beers now so onto something a bit different: Anna Sjalv Tredje "tussu ago fanfara" (silence, Sweden). The best cosmic krautrock album outside of Germany?
  4. Anthony Williams "spring" (NY USA stereo, blue note)...love this album...all star lineup too. Giorgio Gaslini "nuovi sentimenti" (EMI, Italy) with Steve Lacy, Enrico Rava, Don Cherry, etc. Listening to this for the first time in many, many years...amazing album...RIP.
  5. Yeah when I play a lot of these SHM CDs I don't feel as much desire to have them on vinyl...they sound very analog to me!
  6. Hmm...well if I ever see it again for a reasonable price I'll probably pick it up again; it would not be the first time I've rebought a record I had sold years before Tonight's new arrival in the mail is a pristine NY USA stereo copy of Anthony Williams "Spring" with the incredible lineup of Wayne Shorter, Sam Rivers, Herbie Hancock, and Gary Peacock. An upgrade from my VG+ Liberty...will play it tomorrow night as I'm exhausted.
  7. I used to have it many years ago but got rid of it..if memory serves correctly at the time it didn't really knock me out and I thought the recording quality was a bit dodgy. But it's been nearly 15 years now so maybe if I heard it again I'd have a different opinion?
  8. For me it's the principle; it's not cool to all of a sudden collect a tax that should not be collected unless there's been some change in the law. But I understand your point too...
  9. Yeah that's the one, but the issue is the fact they want to charge tax on foreign orders! I've ordered from them for over 10 years...1st time they have asked for tax too...stupid!
  10. That can't be right. I'm always buying stuff from Japan and I've never been asked for that. Which website are you referring to? They are called "Darumaya" Yeah it's a bit shady for sure...even though it only works out to an extra $20 or so I think on principle I'm going to cancel my order and not deal with them again.
  11. Hi, I just placed an order from an online Japanese music website and they are asking me to pay the Japanese tax on my order. I live in Canada and in all the years I've ordered from Japanese vendors I've never had to pay the Japanese tax...has their exemption laws changed? As far as I know only Japanese residents have to pay the tax?
  12. Miles Davis "relaxin" ...from "the great prestige recordings" 5 LP box from analogue productions. Just sublime sound...the best versions I've heard of these amazing sessions. I have an XRCD of "steamin" but the version of that record in this vinyl box trumps that as well.
  13. My Annette Peacock "I'm the one" is on dynaflex vinyl...brilliant album; horrendously thin vinyl.
  14. That would be my choice too but I'm too lazy for 45RPM...plus my systemdek IIx has to have the belt manually changed to switch speeds...adding to the workload haha. It would be nice if it sees appearance on the MM 33 rpm reissue series eventually...those have all been fantastic so far.
  15. Mines the cicala issue...so the DG is on the original huh? Hmm...not sure I need the 1st press but if I ever see it for cheap maybe I'll grab it...
  16. I paid around the same for my durium copy too but if memory serves correctly there's a 1st and second issue of that album on the same label with a very minor difference between the two.. I used to have the inner city pressing too...nothing wrong with that issue...sounded fine...just preferred the artwork on the Italian issue. Same solution for my copy of 'Sticky Fingers'Maybe cuz I'm a bit anal I can't stand weird/awkward LP packages! I like all my records straight up and neatly aligned...even when covers have a slight curve like some old blue notes I get annoyed!
  17. I don't have any of those Lps with Potts but I do have his LP on the "123" French label from the early 70s which is pretty cool...has a nice cover photo of him chilling out at some Paris cafe. I took Leeway's advice and am just finishing side two of my USA 6-eye stereo copy of "kind of blue"...probably the only record in my collection that I own over 5 different versions of. Still haven't played the 50th anniversary box set vinyl of this yet even though I have that too!
  18. I have an amazing Steve Potts 4tet CD called "Pearls"... And there's a great Steve Potts performance on a Tchangodei LP called "sans chemin"...with George Lewis...a superb LP that is a must have!
  19. Congratulations to Homefromtheforest: How about KOB for a chill pill?
  20. Hank Mobley "soul station" (music matters, 33rpm blue note) Grant Green "idle moments" (as above) With the arrival of my second baby I have just a few hours to unwind tonight so even though I have an abundance of free/avant garde etc vinyl in the collection I am totally craving just some classic (and good sounding) jazz! Goes great with a few super cold beers too
  21. I have the original CD box set from Columbia; so this version is inferior to the 40th anniversary set? I must admit I greatly prefer "Jack Johnson" and "in a silent way".
  22. Can anyone give a comment/review on the Japanese mono 200gm LP? I don't have any LPs from this series so this might be a good candidate to try these out. On the other hand I've heard that the stereo imaging is nice on this session? Perhaps I should hunt down a Liberty stereo issue?
  23. I do not have this title and was wondering if I could get some advice on a good sounding version of this? I'm thinking about trying that recent Japanese 200gm vinyl version or the SHM japan cd...any thoughts? Stereo vs mono? Dropouts?
