  1. Four Units "s/t" (Union, Japan)
  2. Interesting. I'm sure Manchester United will be keeping an eye on how well the Dutch do as well!
  3. Go Netherlands! Both my parents are from there even though I was born in Canada. Looking forward to the finale rematch this Friday...
  4. Yeah seems weird/shady to me...too bad indeed.
  5. Okay Temiz Trio "Turkish folk jazz" (sonet, UK)
  6. Yeah a lot of incredible music on those 70s Blue Note double packs but pretty horrid design/covers! Yuck.
  7. That's new to me. Looks good. It's a nice record but if memory serves correctly it's not the best sounding recording...have not played it in years.
  8. Killer album! Need to pull this out and play it again myself...love the cover too.
  9. Sounds really cool; especially since decent record stores around Vancouver died around 10 years ago. Closest I got to Sweden was Denmark, and my friend and I didn't even have time to take the train to Malmo from our destination of Copenhagen. Oh well
  10. "Jamabiko" and "celeste" are two other great Pilz albums..
  11. Steve Lacy "The Straight Horn of Steve Lacy" (Candid Mono, USA)
  12. This might be the first year since I started going in 1993 that I likely won't attend any shows. Norma Winstone is tempting but it's the same group I saw her with a few years ago here in Vancouver and the price is steep. Jim Black is tempting too but I saw him with his "axisnoaxis" band here before as well and IMHO that's a better group.
  13. Nice one. Had it years ago and sold it, and then a few years later had seller's regret and bought it again!
  14. Yup! Probably the cheapest strat u can get(made in Indonesia $100 squire bullet) but bought the day of the concert a few years back on a whim...met him before the gig and he signed it for me! He plays a strat that has the exact same color so close enough
  15. I've met, talked to, and interviewed the following musicians over the last 20 years and all of them were very gracious and pleasant to deal with. If I had to pick one that overwhelmed me with warmth and down to earth friendliness it would be Eddie Prevost from AMM. So after Eddie it would be: Mats Gustafson Louis Sclavis John Butcher Wilbert DeJoode Han Bennink Peter Brotzmann Kenny Wheeler Barre Phillips Bobo Stenson Jon Christensen Terje Rypdal Tomasz Stanko Evan Parker Oh and a non-jazz friendly musician would be Mark Arm of Mudhoney/Green River who put me on the guest list of a sold out Mudhoney gig because he liked the vintage 1989 Mudhoney shirt I was wearing! I came up to him on the street and introduced myself and he was super cool...no "rock star" attitude whatsoever.
  16. McCoy Tyner "the real McCoy" (blue note, dark blue label with "white note" issue). A great album...wish I could afford a nice NY USA original issue!
  17. Sonic Youth "daydream nation" (blast first, UK) have not played this in over 20 years! Brings me back to my youth...listened to so much music like this in the late 80s into the early 90s. The Group "feedback" (RCA/Schema, Italy). Brand new reissue...a quality job! Very happy to have this after bidding obscene amounts of money(unsuccessfully) on the few times originals have shown up on eBay... And now: Tomasz Stanko "jazz message from Poland" (JG, Germany)...a very nice album...Stanko is a player I enjoy no matter what the era...from his work with Komeda to his last ECM CD..he's one of my favorites. This one is from the early 70s...not quite as amazing as his Calig album from the same vintage, but still very good.
  18. It's a great lp...took me a number of years to find.
  19. Sorry shipping is $3 not $5
  20. Have a few CDs for sale - all are in like new condition complete with any inserts/etc that they came with...shipping is $5 within North America. Overseas ask for a quote. If you reside around Vancouver, BC local pickup can be arranged! Joki Freund "Yogi jazz" (Sawano, Japan) $17 Takeshi Inomata "Sound of Sound LTD" (Deep Jazz Reality, Japan) mini-LP sleeve $27
  21. Albert Mangelsdorff Quintet "Legends Live Freiburg 6/22/64" LP (Arthaus, Germany) Very nice sounding concert taken from German SWR tapes...great music.
  22. Haha...I could say the same thing, but I have a lot of records that fit that description. Not for lack of quality that is but just harder and harder to find time to listen to things with a growing family. I do remember enjoying this 2LP though..
  23. Pulled out a few of my "cosmic newspapers" to enjoy tonight in celebration of Sun Ra!
  24. Milt Ward & Virgo Spectrum "s/t" LP ( private, USA) Henry Franklin "the skipper" LP (black jazz, USA)
