  1. Jackie McLean "destination out" (Blue Note, NY USA mono). Interesting that this does not have a DG on one side like my 2 stereo copies. Sounds a bit punchier in mono but I think I prefer the stereo presentation actually...or maybe it's just my ears have gotten so used to the stereo issue! Alas still not a dead silent copy...just enough soft crackles in spots to annoy me a bit
  2. Huh...mine must be a later 70s issue then! Ugh now the collector bug in me is itching to get a 1st press now haha...such unhinged nerdiness..
  3. Really? I have a pristine German Liberty pressing with the "SRS..." stamp on side one but just the Liberty matrix number on side two. Is yours different? It is a classic record. I have original German issues of "Tago Mago", "Future Days", "Soundtracks" and "Ege Bamyasi" as well. My "Soon over Babaluma" is a UK UA pressing...all classic stuff!
  4. Longtime Seahawks fan here, and they looked pretty strong against the Packers last Thursday! Feels good after so many suffering years watching them since I can remember(early 80s at least)
  5. While on the topic of late 80s/early 90s noise rock nostalgia - one of the craziest concerts I ever saw was the Jesus Lizard on the "goat" tour...started in the front row and quickly made way towards the back as the band started and Yow immediately leapt into the crowd! Could only stand a song or two by the stage until I realized I didn't want to get hurt or be covered in beer :0
  6. Hmmm..I found Rapeman more spotty...even though the lineup was amazing and i used to love Scratch Acid too. Actually the only record I kept from that era of Albini was "atomizer". Was and still is my favorite...still have "action park" but never got into their later albums.
  7. A Shellac reference on this board!? Haha.."action park" and their first 3 singles are great...saw them live on that particular tour too. Was a fan of big black etc in the late 80s as well. Anyway if I ever get a sudden unexpected influx of cash I'll definitely buy this, but for now I can't justify $100 for another boutique release from this label...
  8. Terumasa Hino "journey to air" (Canyon, Japan) with Dave Holland, David Liebman, etc...killer album!
  9. It's definitely a tantalizing lineup, but I can't justify $100 on a new 2LP anymore. In fact I regret buying that Taylor/Oxley 2LP for $110...it's a decent performance but the sound quality does not blow me away at all and there are stronger(and better recorded) performances by them on the FMP label.
  10. Andrew Hill "Andrew!!!!" (blue note, liberty stereo)...sigh a mere liberty issue haha but at least it's stone mint and actually sounds quite good...
  11. I don't doubt the quality, and I did buy the Taylor/Oxley set when it was released, but I seriously think they'd sell more of their releases if they cut the price by about half! It's really ridiculous....I'm sure if I ever put my Taylor/Oxley set on sale at auction I'd be lucky to get $50 or so...to charge extravagant "collector" prices right out of the gate is just weird...even in 20 years I'd be surprised if they would sell for close to their "new" price!?
  12. Ugh another overpriced triple point release...I see they still have copies of their first "limited" release of the Taylor/Oxley set...at $110 why am I not surprised?
  13. Don Cherry "complete communion" (Blue Note, NY USA mono)
  14. In particular in think Ed Blackwell puts on a clinic on "complete communion"
  15. Hmmm...I'd have to disagree about the Don Cherry BNs, but only because I think "complete communion" is friggin amazing and in my opinion one of his best from that mid 60s era. I wish "live in Ankara" was recorded better - for me the poor fidelity weighs down that album. The other record with Bothen, etc is better but a different phase of Cherry's output including the later double LP on Caprice.
  16. How so? Is she in bad health?
  17. I've been to 12 Tonar in Iceland when I went there about 7 years ago; a very cool and unique shop!
  18. Wendell Harrison "an evening with the devil" (tribe, USA) a recent score..$30 for an original in excellent shape! Kenny Drew "undercurrent" (blue note, music matters 33rpm reissue). So far so good...had a few previous MM discs with noise that I had to return.
  19. Too bad (at least imo) that Jackie McLean went back to more conventional hard bop. Perhaps he felt that was the better way to make a living, or perhaps he had other reasons. I'm inclined to agree; to me this band was his artistic pinnacle even though I still enjoy "right now", "it's time" and many of his other mid to late 60s Blue Notes. They're just not as adventurous as this group that made this album and "destination out"(albeit different rhythm section).
  20. Steve Lacy "stalks" (Columbia, Japan) Perhaps my favorite Lacy album...at least in my top 5 for sure.
  21. Jackie McLean "one step beyond" (blue note, NY USA mono with ear) a stone mint and dead silent record...amazing fidelity! I love this band so much...killer music.
  22. Did you find it through this board or on eBay? eBay is usually the best bet for tracking down particular albums unless you live in a big city like London, Tokyo or New York. I have an original mono and stereo copy of this album but both are VG+ only...it would be nice to one day find a M- copy without breaking the bank!
  23. I agree. While the internet has opened the world up so you can find that obscure Finnish Jazz LP or that rare Japanese experimental LP; it has pretty much killed the record store experience for me. At least in my area all local stores have every single somewhat "collectible" album priced at, or in most cases above, eBay prices and usually in worse condition. It used to be fun years ago to walk into a store to see what surprises you'd find lurking in the racks undetected by others...those days are long gone!
  24. "Wearying" was the word I was looking for; thanks. I'll be sure to investigate this new set and give it a chance!
  25. Haha yeah I hear what your saying but in this case "never playing" meant I didn't even get through the entire album even once!
