  1. Yeah I got some ridiculous quotes as well just now! I think one will find much better deals on eBay, discogs, etc.
  2. One of my favorites.
  3. That old documentary called "Vinyl" was a great film about record collectors...made me feel better about myself haha...
  4. Xenakis "persepolis" (Philips, France) Not easy listening but I find it totally fascinating. I could say the same thing about the La Monte Young albums I have...not stuff I play very often but when I do it's definitely a unique sound world that I am exposed to. Thanks for the heads-up, I'll check it out. I gave that one a spin yesterday as well. One of my favourites. I also like the duet record he did with Greg Goodman around the same time. You probably know but I'll just throw it out here, that the "Vaincu. Va! Live at the Western Front" was recorded within a week of "Finger Palace," i.e., Parker is playing at the same high level on both. That is a nice one, too. I was at the album release concert where Parker performed in the same venue. Hope that one gets released some day. I sat right next to Mr.Clugston at this show and agree it was a fantastic show
  5. If they charge anything higher then $30-40 for some of the single Lps I'm out. There's only a few I want and most of them are on the "jazz confronto" series such as the Enrico Rava and Steve Grossman. These all pop up on eBay from time to time and the advantage of that is hopefully the sellers can play grade and let you know of any cover problems. I imagine it's more of a crapshoot ordering dead stock direct from label...vinyl could be noisy or warped..covers could be unglued, etc. I've been lucky in that all my Horo titles save for Lacy's "eronel" have been fairly quiet pressings.
  6. Got an email response stating that they are original vinyl from the 70s...so old dead stock I presume. No word on prices yet..
  7. My cover was different. Sure you're not thinking of Catch? Yeah I think my copy of "eronel" had a different cover as well if memory serves correctly. Unfortunately I sold my copy many years ago as I wasn't too happy with the pressing/sound. Of course seeing your post is making me want to buy it again haha :/
  8. Bernard Parmegiani "violostries" (Philips, France)
  9. Eric Dolphy "out to lunch" (Blue Note, mono DG USA)
  10. Miles Davis "workin" (Prestige, USA orig)
  11. John Coltrane "soultrane" (Prestige, USA orig)
  12. I guess by reasonable I mean in the $100-200 range! Which to be fair is a reasonable price for this album as it does not show up very often...even if it is a slightly later issue. BTW this thread has reminded me of a whole bunch of Hampel and Breuker LPs I should play again soon! I always loved the Hampel LP on Wergo especially but of course the ESP and Birth albums with Breuker are great too.
  13. Rendell/Carr "phase III" (Columbia lansdowne, UK stereo) Larry Young "into something" (Blue Note, Japan King issue 1983)
  14. My copy of Breuker's "Litany" is on German Wergo..you should be able to find it for a fairly reasonable price if you're patient. The original Dutch Relax pressing is the one that will cost you an arm and perhaps a leg too!
  15. That and the "folk songs" sonet LP are my favorite Tyler albums...
  16. Ariel Kalma/Richard Tinti "osmose" (SFP, France) record 1
  17. Hank Mobley "the turnaround" (Blue Note, NY USA stereo) Rendell/Carr "change is" (Columbia lansdowne, UK)
  18. An original? Very nice! Always regret passing on a mint original for $100 because I had just bought the reissue LP...oh well :/
  19. Do you mean "Euclid records"? That guy travelled down to Vancouver here a few years back to buy one of the best 50s/60s jazz collections around..it was a retired collector I'm friends with and I got to see the collection before it went...a near complete collection of original blue notes and prestiges amongst thousands of others. He sold it for $250,000 which seems really high and a good price for the collector, but it worked out to about $30 per album so given the high number of 3 to 4 figure albums in that collection it was a good deal for Euclid too!
  20. I'd say that's an incredible deal! Puts my $7 vg++ original of "far cry" to shame because I think "outward bound" usually goes for more money on eBay
  21. Have been for many years already!
  22. What I love about used records from Japan is the condition. I've been doing mail order from various Japanese websites since the early 90s(hello Early Records, etc) and their grading is meticulous. For the most part used records in Japan look like brand new as opposed to the often dog-eared flea market condition stuff you find in North America. If I could fly to Japan and walk into a record store and find a mint 1st pressing of "Independence" by Masayuki Takayanagi I'd be pleased as punch!
  23. Nope! Was outbid the few times I've seen it on eBay:( If neither of you have it it must be RARE indeed Haha...I never really bid hard for it; strikes me as more of a curio then anything. Where as I spent much effort and dollars tracking down a true 1st pressing of "topography of the lungs" with both inserts...that record was more important to me!
