  1. Sad news...I always thought she was a gifted comedian...so young!
  2. MEV "leave the city" (BYG, France) SAB "crystallization" (Vanity, Japan)
  3. Can "Tago Mago" record 1 (united artists, Germany) Can "soon over babaluma" (united artists, UK) side 2
  4. I remember seeing Paul Revere & the Raiders as a young pre-teen kid at the Northwest Washington fair in Lynden, WA around the early 80s...I don't remember much detail but do recall the show was a lot of fun and he was a great frontman!
  5. pM sent on Lacy "the sun" and the Kenny wheeler And the Joe McPhee "sound on sound" too
  6. Cecil Taylor "conquistador" (blue note, liberty)
  7. Kazumi Watanabe "infinite" (express, Japan). This debut from 1971 is amazing...only 17 years old on this session! Great spacy free jazz/fusion with a stellar Japanese cast around him.
  8. I didn't bother checking if any of the tracks I chose for my current October BFT had been used before...I honestly think that duplication is highly unlikely given the amount of jazz CDs and LPs that have been produced over the last 75 years or so!
  9. Noah Howard "space dimension" (Columbia, Japan). Yes!!! After owning 2 mint French america copies that both sounded horrible(some weird pressing problem seems to have affected all copies) it is a revelation to find this Japanese issue that sounds perfect! No weird distortion that is present on the America pressings... John Jenkins/Kenny Burrell "s/t" (blue note, King Japan mono) Jackie McLean "destination out" (blue note, King Japan stereo). Finally found a King pressing and after owning 3 slightly noisy originals it's a joy to hear this on dead silent vinyl...
  10. I had actually never heard of it until this recent thread activity! But I trust your taste Clifford so I'm sure I won't be disappointed...
  11. It better be good..I just paid $100 for a mint Japanese LP...should arrive in a week...solely based on all the fuss created here! :0
  12. Really? Darn. At one time I had a perfect vinyl copy of "decipher" but when I got the Japanese CD I sold the vinyl in tight times..I had found the record for $25 and could not resist the $200 profit alluring me at the time Anyway this was years ago so I'd love to hear how the vinyl sounds on my improved turntable system..
  13. I have "the call " by Michael Naura on vinyl and it's a very good album...I don't think it's been on CD before.
  14. Peter Kowald quintet "s/t" (FMP, Germany). I've had three different issues of this over the years...now I have a copy with a silkscreened cover which I believe to be the first issue. Anyway it's a killer album. DEMA "rumour" (Sony, Japan). Killer avant psych jazz album with Masahiko Sato, Akira Ishikawa, Kimio Mizutani, etc
  15. Lucky! Sounds fascinating...
  16. Thank you for posting. I have many albums and CDs on which he has performed - a great musician who, like Kenny Wheeler, was very versatile and comfortable in many different settings. RIP.
  17. You are correct! So that's 3 out of 14 that have thus far been identified...
  18. Sorry not close on these reactions although I guess Ray Russell would be a fair guess... 2-5 is a bassist's record! And it's not Miroslav Vitous...
  19. A label in Germany recently reissued "zodiac" on vinyl...I bought a copy just to compare to my original and it holds up pretty good although I think the original sounds slightly more dynamic but that could be the subconscious record nerd inside me talking!
  20. You are correct Clifford! And the first track is not Finnish, but a rather multi-national cast to give a hint...
  21. Oh yeah it's not Woody Shaw on 2-4 but the leader has played with Woody Shaw on other dates!
  22. Yeah I believe the UK issue is on Regal Zonophone...
  23. Hey I feel like I'm getting roasted here! Is Carrot Top on this board somewhere ?
