  2. #0310 here. I got #0307.
  3. How about "Busier than a dog in heat with four peckers".
  4. Question for the vinyl experts: I purchased a sealed copy of Valdo Williams' New Advanced Jazz recently and was wondering if I should leave the shrinkwrap sealed, or cut it to take the LP out to prevent ringwear on the cover?
  5. From the old Foghorn Leghorn cartoon: "That's boy's causin' more trouble than a boll weevil in a cotton plantation"
  6. "That's better than a kick in the ass with a frozen boot"
  7. that's a good one Lon!
  8. Let's have a glass of wine and listen to Disc 3? I'd marry THAT woman! My Hill Select was waiting on my doorstep when I ran home at lunch today. I didn't have time to listen to it though - I just ripped into the envelope, got that grey liner stuff all over myself and looked at it.
  9. As my man Ralph Kramden says "I'm the King of my castle!"

  13. Have a great birthday!
  14. That's a great cover Jim! If I had Photoshop, I'd try a version using the "brilliant circle" from the '64-'65 NYWF.
  15. Cool! I get dibs on the Cecil Taylor set. I wish I had it!
  16. If that ever happens, I'll give all of my Mosaics away!
  17. Sent you a PM about Izipho Zam and the Horace Parlan.
  18. Just picked up a nice mono copy of Monk at the Blackhawk. For some reason, Monk always sounds best on vinyl.
  19. Let's see: Chinese Food Delivery Boy Gas Station Attendent Grocery Clerk Supermarket Frozen Food Mgr. Construction Laborer Process Server (that was a good one!) Then when I grew up: Accountant Systems Manager Project Manager
  20. I'm in a similar boat working for NYS for over twenty years. Same thing here - all of the Governor's pals sitting in high-paying jobs and contributing very little.
  21. As of 6:30pm last night, they were about $4,300 away from reaching their target of $193K. I suspect that they made it. I have to believe that this is a stop-gap measure at this point though, since the amout of debt that they're trying to retire is much higher.
  22. Ditto that. When Hill's Connoisseurs become scarce, they'll likely go for steep prices on e-bay. Now's the time to scoop up those titles that interest you. (I think everyone here already knows that, though.) I wouldn't want to be without Lift Every Voice, but wouldn't recommend it to anyone who's not into vocals in a "jazz" setting. Still, it gets my . Slightly off-topic, but the East-West Hill's from the mid-70's are also very nice. (I don't have Blue Black though ... d'oh!) I love LEV too! I've never heard the East-West sessions. I think Nefertiti is still around - I haven't been able to locate Blue/Black though.
  23. Pick up Dance With Death also. It's very good.
  24. Just pulled the trigger! They're going fast.
  25. Sorry to hear this- a real rascal and a damn interesting architect! There's a great PBS doc on him. Rod That PBS special is terriffic - I hope they air it again. He was quite the art collector also.
