  1. I dig Chet's singing but like Lon, I gotta be in the mood.
  2. Happy Birthday Lon! You and Satchmo born on the same day - I guess it was inevitable that you'd become a jazz maniac ;
  3. I'd love to see this too. I remember reading somewhere that the MOMA has a copy in thier collection -you may want to give them a call.
  4. He's wrong alright. This is a terriffic session.
  5. I'm waiting for the Ayler Revenant box too! I also want the John Coltrane 'The Complete Classic Quartet' (Impulse) box.
  6. Yep! Great session.
  7. Don't forget Ahmad Jamal's trios.
  8. never knew it myself before I read that post. I didn't read it either.
  9. Virgo Vibes is indeed a very good date! BTW - I believe that Herbie Hancock is in the piano chair under an assumed name.
  10. Gerald's Party - Robert Coover
  11. Methinks this one's FANTASTIC at least! Maybe my favourite Shepp! I dig this one too! Roswell Rudd puts down some nice lines throughout.
  12. If I ever tried jumping rope I'd probably break my neck. Jumping jacks are pretty good to get the 'ole ticker moving.

    Sam Rivers

I like it too! One of the things I like about this session is the way that certain tracks feel like they're going off the rails, then they're reigned back in. I like Spaulding's playing here too. I remember some board members mentioning a dislike for the drummer (Steve Ellington, I believe), but I never found his playing to be a problem.
  14. True Blue. It's about time!!!
  15. While we're on the topic, how is the Mosaic? I've never heard Teddy Wilson, but I am a fan of piano trios (Wynton Kelly, Ahmad Jamal, Weston, etc..). Thanks.
  16. Yep! Add some cayene to the flour also.
  17. $85 would make this the bargain of the century! Man, I can't wait for this one.
  18. oh yeah! I can't wait for this baby either.
  19. I agree with Brandon - Transient Random Noise Bursts and Mars Audiac are my faves. I also dig Dots and Loops and Cobra & Phases. I never warmed up to Sound Dust however and haven't heard their latest effort yet.
  20. I picked up The Cry of My People recently and I highly recommend it. Nice mix of jazz, gospel, soul and blues.
  21. I agree with the others - Ornette is wonderful on Tenor - he should have played it more.
  22. Ahmad Jamal Trio Happy Moods
  23. I second this one. A collection of the Argo sides would be nice.
