  1. This set is a favorite of mine too! This was my first exposure to Weston and since buying the Mosaic I've picked up some others on vinyl (Destry, Get Happy). The music on this set is uniformly excellent. I love the the live session with Hawk and the unreleased session with Cecil Payne. The two African-influenced sessions are terrific also. Highly recommended.
  2. I've been looking for Blue-Black for a while now. This is good news!
  3. Up for the taking: Earl Bostic, R&B Chronological Classics 1946-49.
  4. That's a great little flick!
  5. Good idea Jim. I'm an avid TCM watcher and always enjoy Osborne's observations. They had a few goodies last night. Charade, which is a favorite of mine, is one of those films that you can watch over and over again. Stanley Donen does a nice job directing here. Many people actually think that this is a Hitchcock. Somebody Up There Likes Me was up next. This was the first time that I've seen it all the way through. Newman's performance was a bit over the top. but a good little film just the same. I always enjoy Operation Petticoat, or anything with Cary Grant for that matter so I'll be watching tonight. I think my favorite, North by Northwest bay also be on around Midnight.
  6. I'm starting my day off bathed in grease w/ Harold Vick's Steppin' Out.
  7. Happy Birthday big guy! All the best.
  8. I haven't traveled extensively out of the USA, but I do love the UK.
  9. Andrew Hill Andrew Hill Andrew Hill Andrew Hill Andrew Hill
  10. Happy B'day. Enjoy!
  11. Woody Shaw - Steppin' Stones Monk at the Blackhawk Braxton - Dortmund Mingus at Antibes Raashan - Bright Moments Archie Shepp Live in San Francisco
  12. Howzabout a Blues for Lou? Great Mighty Greeaze Trio session! I'll put that up for ya! Thanks Al, I'll take it. I'll send you a PM. Got it, and it'll go out this weekend! Enjoy! Does this mean I have a credit in my account, a disc to be named later from anyone? Yeah, I'm assuming that's how it works. This is a great idea BTW!
  13. Howzabout a Blues for Lou? Great Mighty Greeaze Trio session! I'll put that up for ya! Thanks Al, I'll take it. I'll send you a PM.
  14. Anyone have any Patton or Roach blue notes that they're willing to part with?
  15. Hi Ralphie, i would love to get this one !!! Marcus It's yours! Send me a PM with your mailing address and I'll send it off.
  16. I haven't heard all of them, but I'm partial to PATTERNS. If I had to choose from the list, I'd go with HAPPENINGS.
  17. I'm offering up a copy of Stanley Cowell's Brilliant Circles featuring Woody Shaw, Tyrone Washington and Hutch. You know the story - great session - lousy sound.
  18. I have a sealed copy of the above and I'm looking to trade for another Blue Note TOCJ. A Patton or Roach would be nice, but I'm open to anything. Thanks!
  19. I see a pattern - Looks like #17 will be blue
  20. I was thinking Sun Ra, actually. It does remind me of Sun Ra, yet it is uniquely Hill. Somehow he manages to transfer his unique phrasing to the organ. Those tracks are really cool!
  21. It makes a nice ashtray though
  22. I've listened to Discs 1 and 2 so far. I really like the session with strings and the solo session. The track with Hill on organ is really interesting too. On to Disc 3 later today!
