  1. Oh god I forgot I saw Ferguson too! It was probably one of the most bizarre settings I have ever experienced at a concert. It was at the Imperial County Fairgrounds in Imperial,California. It was right across the way from an auto race dirt track and a race was in progress. I don't think I can adequately convey how annoying that was but Maynard ever the professional proclaimed that band could play louder than the cars. They proceeded to do just that.
  2. Hey! I've seen trees with greater acting range! Let's not lump them all together now! Maybe I was being too rough. At least trees can grow.
  3. This thread is getting more depraved by the second.
  4. Coppola was probably trying to get the MTV generation into the theatre. If that's the case Francis obviously made a big mistake. Reeves should be an automatic shoo in for a Razzy every time he makes a film.
  5. He has the acting range of a piece of Balsa wood.
  6. Good move AB Cat Shatner might have been too tempted to urinate on that one.
  7. Alright!!!! Take THAT Manfred!!!!!
  8. Jim I'm not totally sure I'm following you but don't you think it's possible for an artist like Alexander to at least retain the essence of a paticular musical style and at the same time infuse his own life experience into that style and give it a genuine lived in feel?
  9. The album I alluded to earlier "Puttin It Together" is not on cd and while "Here" has been reissued along with "Guarabe" as part of a cd called "Here And There" Fantasy left off the Gary McFarland composition "Gary's Theme"-arrgh!!!!
  10. Tal Farlow-Definitely!!!!
  11. You forgot to mention the Jim Nabors set. Especially the 3 discs of alternate takes of "Gawwwwwlee!" and "Shazam!" It brought tears to my eyes and it brought up my lunch. SURPRISE, SURPRISE, SURPRISE! I low-keyed (new word) my response to those covers in the other thread, but I get hysterical every time I look at them. Think there's a "Complete Lawrence Welk RCA Sessions" in the offing? Lawrence Welk and swing. Now THAT belongs in the oxymoron thread.
  12. Woody Herman-Woody was in great form that night. Stan Kenton- It was excruciating sitting through that show. I bailed halfway through it. Buddy Rich-Buddy didn't rant and rave once that evening. It was a great show.
  13. Also the Miles Davis box sets are over there.
  14. As long as they deliver the goods age ain't nothing but a number.
  15. If your line of work obliges you to go outside in Phoenix during the summer months I can understand why you are looking for another line of work.
  16. I work at radio station KWUF AM & FM in Pagosa Springs,Colorado. I'm on the air Monday through Friday on both AM & FM at different times of the day. I also do sports play by play Football,Baseball and Currently Basketball following the local high school teams. I also do radio production as needed. It keeps me fairly busy.
  17. Mostly it's been Radio but an interesting job that I had was working at an Incense factory in West Los Angeles. The absolutely worst job I had was a brief stint in the Arizona Department of Revenue. I didn't last to long at that and it took me even less time to get over it. If I ever worked in any states Department of Revenue again I would be totally convinced that Hell does indeed exist.
  18. Congrats Johnny I hope you get some sleep.
  19. They recorded a cd on Verve called "Caravan" and they also sat in on a live cd that was recorded by Stephane Grappelli.
  20. The Village Vanguard is a place I must make a pilgramige to someday!!!
  21. Well welcome to them all living, traveling the spaceways or otherwise indifferent.
  22. Nothing else really. Back when I was a kid I used to collect baseball cards and comic books. I still bum when I think about the thousands of dollars that I just threw away. I was a kid how did i know that was all going to become so valuable.
  23. Yeah I know buisness is buisness but the whole deal sucks!!! If they ever get past their myopia it would be nice to see the Weber and Abercrombie cd's come out.
  24. Some interesting titles here. I know I'll be copping some of these.
