Big Al,Scott and Brandon I admire your restraint. When I go to the bastards web site I have no such restraint -it's almost inevitable that I find something that I just have to buy. It's been my experience that I find titles there that I can't find anywhere else and I really don't think the prices are that out of line. I haven't been there recently but it's just a matter of time and when I do go there-GULP!!!

I haven't seen her in years. I like her guitar playing (especially all those Earl Hooker instrumentals she used to play live), but her singing is pretty bad. I would like to see her play sometime in spite of the fact that her singing is suspect.

The liners are still there but they're lengthy and the size of a pinhead which make's them a real chore to read. Plus it seems that the record companies want to put them on the darkest paper possible which just adds to the annoyance.

Wow!!! That was nice. I remember seeing Eddie in Phoenix. It was the last set of a weeks stay and he was great!!!! The audience wanted an encore and Eddie's response was "Where the HELL were you all week long?". I got a kick out of that.I can see that I'm going to spend some money in 2005 getting the Eddie Harris portion of my collection up to speed. I sure do miss Eddie.

I prefer Grant Green over by Wes but not by much. I think they both bring a lot to the table. You can't really fault Wes for the pop albums because as it was pointed out he did have a family to feed and for all we know he might have enjoyed making them. I thought both Green and Wes were outstanding with B3 players-Wes with Jimmy Smith and Grant with John Patton and Larry Young. Grant Green also turned in a great performance on Search For The New Land. One of these days I would dearly to get the Wes Montgomery Riverside box.

Is the Jimmy Smith retrospective worth getting?
