I have one of the Cray Hightones on Vinyl. It would be nice if the Cray/Salgado work saw the light of day. I like Salgado's singing plus he's a damn good harmonica player.
His playing is just a bit too avant garde for me. Not that it's wrong it just doesn't work for me. Admittedly it worked better on "Blue Spirits" but I just don't like his sound - it sounds like fresh chalk on a blackboard to me.
On "Night Of The Cookers" it just wasn't a good fit IMO. It just seemed like he was out of step with the rest of the group.
When I lived in Arizona somebody told me about a diver who went to check out a car wreck that was in Roosevelt Lake, spotted a catfish that was as big as the car and got the hell out of there and that was long before there was an internet. Catfish can grow to be huge especially in larger bodies of water. I bet there are some in the Mississippi River that are gigantic.
Mingus is one of those guys that I really haven't gotten into-that is until I checked out MINGUS AH UM and got absolutely floored!!!! These recommendations will help me get further up to speed.
Alison hopefully you will find a doctor(s) who knows whats going on and give you some answers and some peace because god knows you deserve it. I'll be thinking good thoughts for you.
I saw the Butterfield group with Bishop, Mark Naftalin,Phillip Wilson,Dave Sanborn,Gene Dinwiddie and Keith Johnson. Not much jamming per se but it was a super show.
Rainy it's a guy thing but I understand why you don't approve. In fairness to my fellow male posters I do think that for the most part they do a good job of getting past the superficial and judging artists on their individual merits. FWIW I don't miss the babe thread.
Now don't get mad Rainy but can Rachel Ray actually cook?
