  1. Johnny Cash-Long Black Veil George Jones-He Stopped Loving Her Today Vern Gosdin-Chiseled In Stone
  2. Kudos to you both.
  3. Good point.
  4. I liked his work with Gabor Szabo. My friends kiked this album that he did on A&M called "Geeta Suite". It was another attempt to meld jazz and rock. I still have a copy of it but i have listened to it in quite awhile because it's really beat up.
  5. Sounded like some good nights all around.
  6. It's all about what they think will give them the heftiest bottom line. Whether it's someone who they think will be perceived as "hip" or "quality" or if it's a case of trying to clone some other labels artist or whatever it's all about the$. The more the merrier.
  7. Let us know how it trurned out for you.
  8. Agreed. Some of it is fairly dated but on the whole it worked for me.
  9. The Dodgers will be very interesting to watch. I have mixed feelings about letting Beltre get away after such a fantastic year but that was the only truly good year that he had. I think Kent and Valentin/Nakamura are just stopgap. I suspect that DePodesta is ultimately hanging his hat on Antonio Perez and Joel Guzman to be his 2nd and 3rd basemen of the future. The pitching staff is improved over last year. We shall see.
  10. In a word no. Trust your instincts. If the deal is not for you or makes you suspicious-pass.
  11. Stop It!!! You're hurting me !!!
  12. Winona looks like Wesley Crusher-really? Maybe they should have busted him at that swank shop!!! And let's face it Oldman on his worst days has more uh! er! "bite" in his acting range than Reeves on his best days.
  13. Oh god I forgot I saw Ferguson too! It was probably one of the most bizarre settings I have ever experienced at a concert. It was at the Imperial County Fairgrounds in Imperial,California. It was right across the way from an auto race dirt track and a race was in progress. I don't think I can adequately convey how annoying that was but Maynard ever the professional proclaimed that band could play louder than the cars. They proceeded to do just that.
  14. Hey! I've seen trees with greater acting range! Let's not lump them all together now! Maybe I was being too rough. At least trees can grow.
  15. This thread is getting more depraved by the second.
  16. Coppola was probably trying to get the MTV generation into the theatre. If that's the case Francis obviously made a big mistake. Reeves should be an automatic shoo in for a Razzy every time he makes a film.
  17. He has the acting range of a piece of Balsa wood.
  18. Good move AB Cat Shatner might have been too tempted to urinate on that one.
  19. Alright!!!! Take THAT Manfred!!!!!
  20. Jim I'm not totally sure I'm following you but don't you think it's possible for an artist like Alexander to at least retain the essence of a paticular musical style and at the same time infuse his own life experience into that style and give it a genuine lived in feel?
  21. The album I alluded to earlier "Puttin It Together" is not on cd and while "Here" has been reissued along with "Guarabe" as part of a cd called "Here And There" Fantasy left off the Gary McFarland composition "Gary's Theme"-arrgh!!!!
  22. Well I'm hoping that this is recorded professionally and not coming out in a boot of dubious quality and legality.
  23. Tal Farlow-Definitely!!!!
  24. You forgot to mention the Jim Nabors set. Especially the 3 discs of alternate takes of "Gawwwwwlee!" and "Shazam!" It brought tears to my eyes and it brought up my lunch. SURPRISE, SURPRISE, SURPRISE! I low-keyed (new word) my response to those covers in the other thread, but I get hysterical every time I look at them. Think there's a "Complete Lawrence Welk RCA Sessions" in the offing? Lawrence Welk and swing. Now THAT belongs in the oxymoron thread.
