  1. From what I have heard about this it easily beats all those pukey ballads Aerosmith has been cranking out in r3ecent years.
  2. It was a Monday game and I was fortunate enough to see Aaron hit it out. My next door neighbor wasn't as lucky he had to go after his wayward dog and by the time he got back Aaron had circled the basepaths into history and was my neighbor ever mad. . Poor Al Downing he had a solid career but all he ever hears about is serving up the pitch that hammerin' Hank hit out.
  3. Me too. I'm having todrink coffee in the afternoon to keep the eyelids propped open. It sucks.
  4. I liked Chuck during the time that Niewood was part of the group. As a matter of fact I thought the lineup with Chuck,Gerry Niewood,Tony Levin and Steve Gadd was pretty cool. Once "Feels So Good" came out I started to lose interest.I tried to hang but I just couldn't. Like Patricia I really couldn't blame him but musically it just stopped getting it done as far as I was concerned. Don Potter who played guitar on some of the Mangione Mercury albums went on to be a mainstay on some albums by the Judds. By the way I can't for the life of me remember what instrument that Gap played.
  5. UConn wins the mens national championship.Perhaps the first of two national basketball titles for the university this year.
  6. If it was good enough for Trane.
  7. it would have been stranger if it was George Shearing! Stranger still if he had wanted to PLAY baseball...
  8. I read in the Music Hound Essential Album Guide that Ayler commited suicide. However it happened it's a terribly sad story.
  9. Or those not independently wealthy, or those with any sanity remaining. Wow. Just thinking of being an "Oscar Peterson Completist" makes me quake with fear. Let's see; if I give up food, the wife, the cats, any social life whatsoever...nope; still couldn't afford it! Jazzmoose,Jazzmoose.
  10. 1910 Fruitgum Company Lothar and the Hand People Jodie Foster's Army Eddie From Ohio
  11. Bonds hit one out tonight. He's one shy of his godfather Willie Mays.
  12. Happy Birthday Lazaro!!!
  13. It seems that I go through phases. I've gone for prolonged periods of time where I don't by any cd's but then it starts to get to me and I go on buying binges. I shouldn't spend another dime on cd's but then something comes along and it becomes an itch that I just have to scratch. I do have other habits that keep this one in check-rent habit, food habit, bill habit etc. I've got unlistened to music stockpiled so I'm getting to that point where I'm going to shut it down for awhile or at least slow it down. If I had a mortgage payment like Dan then shutting it down altogether would be pretty much a no brainer. By the way Dan I admire your resoluteness in this matter even if it is a no brainer.
  14. I had posted earlier that since I had acquired this cd a year ago I wasn't going to upgrade on this one but in light of the lavish praise bestowed on the RVG I feel myself beginning to waver-YOU FIENDS!!!!!!
  15. Duke comes from ahead to lose. It will be U Conn vs Georgia Tech for the national championship.
  16. More BMG bargain shopping and I came away with the following: Marc Ribot y Los Cubanos Postizos-Muy Divertido Terence Blanchard-Bounce Tom Harrell-The Art Of Rhythm Tom Harell-Paradise Roland Kirk-Roland Kirk's Finest Hour Both the Harrell's and the Kirk were in clearance so I figured it was a case of get them while you can.
  17. Georgia Tech will play in the title game against either UConn or Duke. Arizona transfer Will Bynum made the winning basket for Tech with 1.5 ticks on the clock.
  18. Well whatever it was he made it work.
  19. Oh man that sucks!!! There are worse things in life but that is one of the bad ones. When I lived in California I lived in a downstairs apartment. In the upstairs apartment was a family and kids being kids do find ways to clog up the plumbing or run too much bathwater. The upstairs people flooded my place TWICE right on top of my albums. It still pisses me off to think about it.
  20. Many happy reruns Claude.
  21. Tony M that dream that you posted about things in your mouth reminded me of a hideous nightmare I had. A few years ago I was laying in the hospital after major surgery and I was taking morphine for the pain. During one of the rare times that I actually slept I had a dream where I was having to pick huge shards of glass out of my tounge. After that I stopped the Morphine and the sequences of nightmares that resulted from it's use also stopped.
  22. We probably will never see Francis Wolff's "outtakes". Even so his worst photos are probably better than some peoples best.
  23. Man that is one large discography. Oscar generated consistenly good quality over the years. A large part of his work was recorded in the trio format. Instead of the usual piano, bass, drums format, Oscar was just as likely to go piano, bass, guitar.Look for some of the sides he recorded with Herb Ellis or Barney Kessel and he also worked with Joe Pass. Oscar often colloabarated with different artists like Ella Fitzgerald. I have one that he recorded with Stephane Grappelli that I enjoy quite a bit. I personally don't have that many Oscar Peterson titles but the ones that I do have I enjoy quite a bit-Live At Zardis,Live At Skol,Emotion,Night Train,Night Child. The BMG music club has a collection of his work on Pablo that I hope to add sometime soon. Warning:being an Oscar Peterson completist is not for the faint of heart. Oscar has been prolific through the years. You might want to shy away from his later Telarc work. Oscar's chops have fallen off and he has suffered a stroke in recent years.Nevertheless Oscar,at least IMO is a quality artist.Hopefully other board members will offer further suggestions. I hope that helps some.
