  1. For those that don't know, there are some multitracks floating around the internet of Marvin Gaye and Van Halen (as well as Queen and the Beatles and more, I'm sure). Basically, you can download mp3s of the individual tracks that make up the song (drums, bass, guitar, vocals, etc.) and remix them yourself. So this guy put Gaye and Roth together. I think he could've used some pitch-shifting on Roth to get him more in tune with the key of the music. I give him a B+ for the idea, but a D for the delivery.
  2. Chuck, I love having you here and I consider you a dear friend. I hope you know that. It's not that you're a "problem", it's just that there's almost a "hazing" ritual that happens when new people join, and while it can be funny to us insiders, I don't think it really helps the overall health or perception of the board. I'm not trying to make anybody leave or anything like that, especially you. I'm just want to make this place a little friendlier for the newcomers. Remember, we were once all exiled as well.
  3. Yeah, and it's a goodun' too! Funky funky! Keepin' an eye on ebay is probaby your best bet.
  4. Yes, please use the search engine before starting threads. I guarantee that most artists will have already been discussed. That way you can read the threads and add to the discussions. Thanks.
  5. You could always contact her through ArtistShare and see if she has any leftover copies (doubtful). Other than that, if you really want it you might have to buck up and pay the market value for it, which appears to be around $50. Or hope you get lucky on eBay. I once paid $60 for Lonnie Smith's very first solo record on Columbia (vinyl!) Then it came out on re-issued vinyl for $11.99 about a year later.
  6. I just didn't quote the whole thing. I did mention not worrying about whether people are "joining the discussion". I don't see why it is healthy for the sustainability of this board for new members to constantly be met with such hostility, by a number of people. If anyone can justify that to me, I'd welcome that. Since, last I checked, there are no rules on how you must "enter" the community and conduct yourself for the first 100 posts or whatever, why get all bent out of shape when someone decides to introduce themselves a certain way?
  7. And there is one on eBay right now.
  8. Since this thread is no longer even remotely about Wynton's sheet music and the original poster seems to have left permanently, it doesn't seem worthwhile to let it continue. A quick suggestion for bluenote82: Use the search engine. I can guarantee that 99% of the jazz artists/groups you want to talk about have been discussed here before. Feel free to add your thoughts, but there is no need to start a new thread when there are already several others on the same subject (ie, posting about Maria Schneider's SkyBlue). For tips on how to use the search engine: http://www.organissimo.org/forum/index.php...mp;CODE=explain A quick suggestion for other members: If you really think someone is a "troll", then why continue to feed him? Think before you post, please.
  9. Because this thread is in the Forums Discussions folder? But it's 6 pages of discussion about someone thinking about joining in the discussion elsewhere on this board. I just don't get it. Maybe we should invite Pollock to think about considering joining in the discussion that we've been having about considering the concept of starting a band. Maybe we should not worry about where other members are posting or whether they are "joining the discussion", whatever that means. I fail to see how Chuck's "get the fuck out" comment helps anything.
  10. Don't forget Tiger Direct: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/ca...p;CMP=ILC-FPM05
  11. Happy Birthday, Alan!

  12. Nice reference!
  13. Oops. I just bought something a minute ago.
  14. It's already been gone over a million times before and I doubt anybody is going to change your mind. So enjoy what you enjoy and don't worry about it.
  15. My favorite part about that thread is how you admit you've only been into Wynton for a few weeks, and yet "I've heard enough of his recordings to KNOW that he's one of the greatest trumpeters of all-time!" You're really young, aren't you?
  16. May I take this time to remind our users of the wonderful "ignore" feature!
  17. It's amazing how uneducated people are when it comes to science. Overheard this weekend while in Indianpolis and watching a news short about research into the beginning of the universe: Person who shall go un-named: "Oh, so the Big Bang is true now? I thought it was just a theory?"
  18. Of course. Welcome!
  19. Hmmm. Interesting concept. I'd like to subscribe to your newsletter.
  20. He's never heard of an organ trio before? What is that? Three organs?!?
  21. What kind of music are you looking for, moodwise?
  22. Frankly, I'm surprised those answers are not on the board. The show probably took them off, but I bet you a bunch of people they surveyed said the same thing.
