Really? She always seemed very nice. She has good taste, anyway!

Um... didn't they broadcast jazz during the middle of the night? Anyone know where Chris Heim is going? She was a HUGE supporter of organissimo.

Great article on Big Ben in the Free Press today: http://www.freep.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=2006604200511

3gb should be enough to run defrag. I agree with Kevin, start getting shit off there (backup backup backup) until you have enough space to run defrag. I'm assuming your drive(s) are formatted FAT32 instead of NTFS?
-
What constitutes 20% of your disc space? Windows really needs 1-2gb of disk space to operate well. If you're down below that, you should seriously consider deleting some stuff and doing a defrag.

I would try Windows System Restore first.

If the computer is old(er), then it might have a lot of dust, hair, etc. in it that is either slowing the fans and/or not allowing air to flow through the case properly. Get one of those cans of compressed air, a screwdriver, unplug that sucker, open it up, and have at it!

What are you using for virus software and what are you using for spyware removal?

Invention: The TV-advertisement enforcer
Jim Alfredson replied to Brownian Motion's topic in Miscellaneous - Non-Political
Nope. I'm the last person on earth who hasn't gotten cable or a dish. Unless perhaps there's a small tribe of others out there... I just refuse to pay for it. I do rent the HBO shows on DVD, but otherwise, even though I'm a sports fan, to hell with it. The only reason I have cable is for the cable modem. And Pistons games. I don't know why it's taking the industry so long to do ala carte TV, were you can just pick and pay for the channels you want. Why do I pay for Fox News, the Golf Channel, and three channels of home shopping!? -

Yeah, but how many people in the US watch "free" TV now? Aren't we all paying for cable or satellite these days? -
Joe's right, unfortunately. We still have a lot of debt from this last record (although I just paid off the studio on Monday, which felt really really good!) but we're doing ok. I got an artist endorsement with Hammond Suzuki, which means I can get stuff at dealer cost. The XK3 is still fairly pricey, the new B3 not withstanding, but with my discount it's not so bad. It just arrived via UPS. I'm excited to kick out the jamz!

Yeah, much easier. It's part of a system that I'll be getting soon that gives you two manuals and a full pedal board in three pieces that weigh 125lbs all together. Much nicer than the 425lbs B3. http://www.hammondorganco.com/xksystem.htm

Hey, if it's cheap, pick it up. I have a vinyl copy lying around somewhere. I don't think it's worth much money.

No guitar, but I have this coming today:

Least favorite household task
Jim Alfredson replied to ghost of miles's topic in Miscellaneous - Non-Political
Wow. I missed this one the first time around. I hate doing the litter boxes (which is now just one litter box, since my wife's sister finally took her damn cat back). In fact, I've come to pretty much despise cats in general. Lately, I've been able to use the excuse of my aching back to get out of changing the cat litter, but now that I'm getting better, my wife is getting wise. I can take all the vacuuming, window cleaning, dish washing, laundry doing, clothes folding, dusting, wiping, Windexing, sorting, and changing diapers you can throw at me. But I hate frickin' cat boxes. -
I got one for ya, Joe... Last Saturday I was heading to the Green Door, driving east on Michigan Ave. Right around the intersection of Cedar and Larch, they have the eastbound down to one lane for construction. I'm stopped at a red light and there's this joker behind me in some ugly-ass Avalanche, or whatever that hideous Chevy thing is. Anyway, he's riding my ass through the one-lane constuction zone for no reason (I'm going 5 over the speed limit). Once we get to where the road opens up to two lanes again, he zips out from behind me into the far right lane, guns it, only to get caught at another red light at Pennsylvania Ave. At this time, three ladies are crossing the street with a baby in a stroller beyond the intersection. They were not in the crosswalk, but they were crossing well before any lights turned green. So our light turns green, and this jackass guns it again. The three women and baby are still crossing the road. He keeps going. I'm thinking, "Jesus, this asshole is going to hit these people!" The guy suddenly realizes that there are people in the road, in his lane, and jerks his car into my lane at the last second, luckily avoiding them (and I was staying back because I could see this whole thing unfolding). The ladies turn around and scream at the dumbass, having almost gotten run over, child and all, by this dickhead. So he keeps gunning it, and winds up at another red light. I pull up to the light, look over and say "What the fuck, dude!? You almost ran those people over!?" He flips me off. Brilliant. Should I mention him and his two buddies in the SUV were white and the women were black? I'd like to think that had nothing to do with it, but you never know...

Doesn't McDuff sing on the album "Tobacco Road" (the tune is "Can't Get Satisfied")?

I have not heard Groove sing. Can it be worse than Jimmy Smith? And yes, the X77 is a piece of crap compared to the mighty B3.

My wife and I met at a wedding on September 15, 2001 (I was playing keys in the band, she was a bridesmaid). I had never, ever given my number to a woman while on a gig before, but when I saw her walk in the room, everything stopped and I knew I had to see her again. Funny thing was, the wedding was way up in Frankfort, MI (about 4 hours north of Lansing) and I had no idea where she was from. Turns out she lived in Lansing. We had our first date a week later and then moved in together on the 2nd of November (6 weeks later) and I proposed the following February. We were married 1 year to the day that we met, on September 15, 2002. She's the best thing that's ever happened to me.
