  1. Now here's the ultimate conundrum... is Poison the poor man's Def Leppard or is it the other way around?!?!
  2. good one
  3. I don't know if it's electric or not... looks like half an accordian. He is playing an early Hammond C3 or possibly a C2. The later C3's didn't have the fancy gothic woodwork.
  4. Game 4 of the Pistons/Pacers series sucked big time. I was playing up in Manistee at the casino, so I only caught it in bits and pieces, but what happened? Thank God the Pistons came back and put the hurt on the Pacers tonight in Game 5. Rip with 33 points, watch-out!!!!! Pistons in six.
  5. I knew we'd get to Grand Funk and the Nuge sooner or later. Who wants to tackle Bob Seger, then we can get the Michiganians out of here.
  6. Is it safe to say that Aldo Nova is the poor man's Edgar Winter?
  7. Styx is the poor man's Kansas. I figured it out.... ELP is the poor man's Introduction to Classical Music, 101.
  8. Is REO Speedwagon the poor man's Super Tramp?
  9. Rush is the poor man's Yes... that's funny. What does that make ELP then? I think Mountain might be the poor man's Steppenwolf.
  10. Tell that to the people suing McDonalds for "making" them fat.
  11. ELP were jive.
  12. The Turbanator was in Ann Arbor last weekend, but we were playing... I've seen him three times and it's not enough. He is fantastic live!
  13. Pistons win game 2... although they tried their best not to!!! Man, up by 13, then Pacers close it to 5, then up by 12, then they close it to 1... talk about a roller-coaster!!! Where's rachel?
  14. As someone who plays live music for a living, I appreciate non-smoking venues very much. I don't think a law needs to be passed, but I wouldn't be against it. I do believe, however, that club owners should re-think the attitude that says "If I don't allow smoking, people won't come" because that's just not true. Case in point: Organissimo played three gigs last week. On Thursday we had a gig at the New Holland Brew Company in Holland, MI. No smoking. Place was packed. They also have great food and great beer. On Friday we played Bell's Brewery in Kalamazoo. Again, no smoking inside. They have an outdoors patio where people can smoke. We had a great crowd. On Saturday we played the Allegan Jazz Festival which was in a 1920's theatre with no smoking. It was fine. Smoking sucks and it's especially annoying when someone with a gigantic cigar sits right in front of you when you're playing and trying to sing.
  15. Where in the world did you get that picture or did you actually make that cake?! That's hilarious! As for swearing, I do pretty good unless I'm watching a basketball game. Last night during the Pistons/Pacers game, while I had Zora sleeping on me, I let out a whole bunch of expletives at the refs!! I'll try to do better...
  16. I can't resist putting this picture up. This is what we're sending out to family and friends for the baby announcement:
  17. Joe G is playing a Hofner Jazzica that he likes a lot. It is quite expensive, though. I would say that you can't go wrong with the Yamahas. Yamaha makes very fine instruments all around. I would imagine their guitars are just as good as their drumsets and their saxophones and their keyboards and their pianos... etc.
  18. A classic, worth of revisiting. Thank you.
  19. That was an amazing play. Even more amazing than some of the terrible calls. The call by the official that was behind Chauncey Billups was insane. How can you call a double-dribble violation on a player when you are behind him, (ie, his back is FACING you) and you cannot see his hands?!?!! The blocking foul on Tayshaun earlier when he was run over was insane as well. Not to mention the two early fouls on Ben Wallace that even the commentators couldn't grasp. But they won it anyway. What a fight!
  20. Dan, Buy some M80s. Wait until the party is over and everyone is asleep. Light the M80s and put them in between the screen door and their front door. Run.
  21. Hey, it's not technically until tomorrow, but thank you!
  22. I wouldn't think so. Invision is a different software company, as far as I know. I hope the new version allows and . No, it looks quite a bit different. Part of the problem over at AAJ and JC is that they haven't taken the time to make custom skins (which is a time consuming process, believe me). But for a glance at version 2.0, look here. It doesn't show you much because most of the action is behind the scenes, but it's going to be way cool.
  23. That's a shame about the Detroit festival. I've been trying to get into that for years. They hire the same local cats year after year.
  24. Oh man, that guy is hilarious! He hasn't changed at all since the days of Jazz Central Station. Amazing!
  25. I didn't see the game because we had a gig, but I did see some of that Rasheed interview today... him just repeating "They will not win game 2" over and over again to the reporters. Ha! You gotta love the guy's spirit. What were the Blazers thinking? Who wouldn't want that guy on your team?
