  1. Anyone see the reply of Rip Hamilton's last shot over J. Kidd? Kidd fouled him not once, but TWICE and the refs didn't call it. God forbid someone call a foul on Jason Kidd. That's the one thing I hate about the NBA. The "stars" get special treatment from the refs. The same rules should apply to everyone.
  2. Sorry to hear about your friend as well, ralphie boy. One of the piano movers my father uses (he is a piano technician) is currently helping his girlfriend recouperate after being run over by a huge GMC Suburban. She was riding her bike in a residential, 25 mph neighborhood, lined with houses and with children everywhere, and this huge behemoth that has no place in an urban environment didn't see her as he was racing down the street at 45 mph and literally ran over her. She's lucky she's alive.
  3. I have no idea. Worth looking into.
  4. Man... how long has it been since the Pistons won one? Oh yeah, THREE games! Damn. They better take it in Detroit. I still can't believe Brown and his resistance to substitution. I'm glad they pulled it out. What was up with the Wolves/Kings? I didn't see the game but I saw something in passing about an altercation with KG.
  5. Ok, Larry Brown is a fucking moron. The Pistons start the second half against the Nets up 14 points (up to 17 points early in the 3rd quarter) and then watch it dwindle down to a 2 point lead and 2:00 minutes to go before Brown makes his FIRST substitution. WHAT THE FUCK?!? If they lose this game, I know who's fault it is. Tayshaun hasn't been himself lately and no one on the floor in the 3rd quarter was making shots except Rip Hamilton, and yet Brown keeps the same lineup through almost the entire quarter while a 17 point lead vanishes.
  6. Check it out if you use the iTunes service! That's pretty cool!
  7. You think that's bad, rachel... I made a horrified Joe G listen to some early Elvis on the way to a gig once... The stuff is so cheesy, you gotta love it!!
  8. Man, that Pistons game was crazy. Here's hoping they can get their shit together and get a win in NJ, or else it'll be a long off-season for me.
  9. Yeah, how much do you freaks spend on CDs per month!??
  10. That's because your work computer wasn't refreshing the avatar. It hard the old one in it's internet cache.
  11. There is no way someone can catch a ball, jump, turn around, and shoot it in .4 seconds. It should've been discounted. But it was a heck of a shot. Luck and human error, pure and simple.
  12. THAT SOUNDS LIKE IT RULES.
  13. Don't you mean: YES, IT WAS WITH STRINGS.
  14. From their website: Word.
  15. bass pedals?!?!
  16. Straight Ahead, that was the record I was talking about (very apt title, eh?) Great record.
  17. Isn't that the favorite expression of all Fins?
  18. You're both wrong... it's just a local pet store backroom!

    Jobim

Triste is the tune you're thinking of, Joe. Waters of March is one that I've always wanted to do. I love bossa nova. I love Brazilian music, too. Gilberto Gil, anyone? Milton Nascimento?
  20. Don Patterson's version of "The Good Life" off "The Exciting New Organ of Don Patterson". Probably the best example of organ ballad playing ever recorded. Most recently, seeing Terry Lynn Carrington with Herbie Hancock at the Clearwater Festival that we played. They played for about 2 hours straight and I could not take my eyes off her. Her playing was absolutely incredible! The only word I could come up with to describe it was "ferocious", even during the soft passages. Her energy and intesity were mind-blowing, as well as her ideas, phrasing, everything. Amazing musician. And a very nice and humble person to talk to, too!
  21. That would've been a great show to see! RE: the original post, I wouldn't compare Dennerlein's playing to Goldings... she's got her own thing. That said, one of my favorite records of hers is one from the '80s (can't remember the name nor the title) that was released in Japan (perhaps DIW?) that is a quartet date and she plays very straight-ahead organ stuff yet with her own style. Great record.
  22. Good playoff games, this season. Everybody is evened up at 2-2 except for the Timberwolves and Kings, aren't they? Amazing. Heat beat the Pacers twice in a row despite Jermaine O'Neil's playoff high! Incredible! I just hope the Pistons can get another win in Motown on Friday. They should be mopping the floor with the Nets... maybe all Larry Brown's trash talking has inspired the Nets.
  23. The pedals are "B3" pedals, she just has them "midi-fied" so she can use other sounds besides the Hammond bass pedal sound, which is fairly limited. Whether or not she uses samples doesn't take away from her technique at all, it just provides her with more options for bass sounds. She probably uses the stock pedal sound every now and then. But I know for sure she used a sound module on "Junkaroo" on some tracks, as well as other discs.
  24. Thank God I'm the only one that can change your name, else this place turn into bedlam!!!
  25. I've always liked cicadas and used to collect their skins when I was a kid. Nothing makes play time fun like having an army of cicada skins attack your GI Joe's. But when I was in West Virginia last year, I saw more cicadas than I had ever seen in my life. The ground was literally crawling with them. It was very creepy. It never gets that bad in Michigan.
