I remember the first time I heard "Blue In Green" I balled my eyes out. What a beautiful tune and an equally beautiful recording by Miles' band. Very spiritual indeed. Not jazz, but jazz-related... I love Donny Hathaway's work. You can't miss the spirituality in it. "Someday We'll All Be Free" always brings tears to my eyes as well. Such a wonderful and peaceful sentiment put into song.

Have you seen my dad's Super 400? Custom made in the mid-70s at the Gibson plant in K-zoo right before it shut down. The body is from the 40s and the neck is custom and it also has a custom Johnny Smith pickup. He's using a picture of it as his avatar on this board. I believe he paid $1200 for it back in the day. It's pretty much priceless now!

Actually Rooster, it looks like you were right the first time. I always thought Larry Young was black, but looking at some old Prestige sides I guess I'm wrong!! Who knew he was a coach as well? Just look:

I can't add a members birthday. I can only do "events" which are non-transferrable to the next year. You'll have to set your own birthday in the "My Controls" edit Profile thingy and then it'll automatically show up. At least, that's how I understand it at this point.

Hi all, You may have noticed a new box at the bottom of the main page of the Forum. It says "Forthcoming Calendar Events within the next 2 days". This lists upcoming special events. As of now, these only consist of the birthdays of our members, but use this thread to put in the birthdays of famous people you think should have their birthday recognized, or any other special historic date and I'll add them to the calender. To add your own birthday, use the "My Controls" section to edit your profile.

The master clock is right, but only after setting it to a weird time zone and then the post clocks and individual clocks were still off, since they are based on the server's clock and not the board's clock. So... uh... I don't know what to do. I think the server clock is off. And I can't do anything about that. I'll email my guy.

It would've been a simple prank if the guy had just posted as Chicken Shack and left it alone. But he didn't. He responded to his own joke as another member in order to egg the conversation on. If you want to talk to yourself, do so in the privacy of your own home, not here.

Hm... I had to set the master clock time zone to something totally messed up to get it to display the right time. I wonder what's going on? I'll be waiting for a respone from my web guy.

I emailed my service provider about this. We'll see.

The trip was a blast! The highlight was playing with Randy's father, Arno. He's a tenor saxophonist who's played with everyone you can imagine! He's 75 and plays his ass off! He sounded great and it was a pleasure playing with him, hearing his stories, and hanging. I recorded three days worth of the shows, so we'll see if anything survives and becomes a live record.

I would rather let him and I work it out from here. He's been posting responsably since he registered and I'm not sure what this whole hoax was about.

Oh and by the way, I can also see, via your IP address, who your internet service provider is and can send a nice email to them letting them know that you're abusing their service. Of course, I would only do this in the most extreme circumstances, but just so everyone knows. I try to run this board as fair as I can. I will not tolerate wise-assess who come in here to start trouble.

Ok people.... word to the wise. Don't come in here and try to be a fucking smart ass or you're gonna get in trouble. I can match IP addresses quite quickly and find if you have another alias on this board. It's pretty stupid. Turns out that Chicken Shack actually is already registered on this board under two other different names. In fact, he posted in this very thread with his other monikor. He has another member account that he hasn't posted under yet. I'm deleting the Chicken Shack account, as well as the other account he created. I will let the other account that he's been using stand since he's been behaving with that one. But let's be smart here, people... I can see where you're posting from, when, who, how, why, etc. Don't come in here and start acting like a boob, all right?

What are they compressed at? How much does it cost per month? I have to say, I miss my broadband connection.

That's what I'm thinking. The last time it went out for any lengthy amount of time was just after they released a virus onto the internet that shut down Windows 2000 servers. My server guy doesn't use Windows, but some of the computers he routes through did and it had affected them.

Jim, No problem. It's too bad you couldn't make it as it would've been nice to meet you face to face, but I'm actually kind of glad you didn't show up! I would've been slightly embarassed. I think Monday was the worst night of the tour. I think everyone was just burned out after 7 gigs in 5 days non-stop. I didn't feel like I played well at all... but that's water under the bridge! I haven't picked up the new Heid yet, but I've been meaning to. He's a monster!

Those "Jazz When You're Alone" et al covers should all be called "Jazz For Skinny White Broads" based on the covers. Just goes to show how dangerous Photoshop can be in the wrong hands. PURE EVIL!!!

I'll talk to my server guy and see if it's him, or if it's a wider problem. The last time it was down for a few hours I don't think it was just my server. I went to several different webpages such as ESPN and noticed that certain ads and graphics would not load which would suggest a problem with their servers as well.
