Good to hear from you, Dan! Thanks for checking in. -
I've been hit up twice in the last two weeks with the running out of gas story. The first time I simply didn't have any money on me. Yesterday the guy made it a point to tell me he was from Mississippi; even showing me his driver's liscense. I'm thinking, what difference does that make?

Check out the albums he did with Wes Montgomery: Full House, and Smokin' at the Half Note. Kickass. Boss Guitar is good, too; especially if you want to hear him in an organ trio.

Paul Bley Blindfold Test
Joe G replied to mikeweil's topic in Jazz In Print - Periodicals, Books, Newspapers, etc...
You know, I was in Denver this last week, and we checked out a pretty cool cd store (Twist and Shout for those who might be curious). I found not one, but two different releases (one German) of the album Bley did with Jaco and Metheny. Now I'm wondering why I didn't pick one of them up. Anyone heard it? -

Gary, Indiana, Gary Indiana, Gary, Indiana, Let me say it once again. Gary, Indiana, Gary, Indiana, Gary, Indiana, That's the town that "knew me when." If you'd like to have a logical explanation How I happened on this elegant syncopation, I will say without a moment of hesitation There is just one place That can light my face. Gary, Indiana, Gary Indiana, Not Louisiana, Paris, France, New York, or Rome, but Gary, Indiana, Gary, Indiana, Gary Indiana, My home sweet home. For an awesome rendering (and I do mean rendering) of the melody, click here.

If anyone likes flamenco guitar music, check out Cositas Buenas, the latest from Paco DeLucia. Bad-ass. I got it last week along with the new ones from Sco and Mclaughlin, and the remaster of Boss Guitar. A feast!

This is really weird. I'm posting this through the homepage, as I can't get to the main forum page.

Yeah, but as much as it happens here, it must be fun... I suppose some people think so. But then again, some people think that toughing your genitals feels good. -

Can you clarify? (In other words: Who you callin' a sucker? ) The real game, as I see it, is transcending duality and separateness. Which is often easier said than done, as we can see by this thread... -

Errors and Contradictions in the Bible

I agree that hurling insults is unneccesary and unproductive. But I, too, take issue with the idea that we are born in sin. I believe - no I know - that the core of our being is untarnished, complete, pure innocence. It's in those moments when I am in touch with that part of me that I am liable to realize, "This is who I am!" I never think that when I'm acting rudely or thoughtlessly. So forget the guilt trips and let's get on with it, man! -
