  1. Aim a hot air blow dryer at the offending sticker for 20 or 30 seconds. This should weaken the adhesive sufficiently to make peeling-off easy. Adhesive residue can usually be removed with nail polish remover. nail polish remover is mainly acetone isn't it? yipes! make sure to pour a little on the van gelder sig in the dead wax.
  2. The Gigilo beats Sidewinder hands down, and every other Lee Morgan I've heard. b,b,but what about that "bashing" on "Yes I Can, No You Can't"?
  3. and ya don't sqeak when you sneeze.
  4. Yesterday's trad New Year's meal was that lifelong midwestern-germanic-dutch-treat of pork and sauerkraut. Supposed to bring good luck for the year. Carmelized onion and garlic then glazed w/ some white wine. Pan seared with a nice chunk of butter a couple big pork tenderloins that I had jabbed garlic cloves into and rubbed w/ thyme and savory. Layed them ontop of and under sauerkraut finished off with the carmelized onions in a clay cooker. Mashed taters with some more butter and warm heavy cream. Nothing quite like that gastric combo and it's aftermath to watch a bowl game by!

  7. I just googled for his vocalist...
  8. Such a sweet sound there Jim. Some very righteous keybs over top on "Hold On".
  9. Don't ya hate that! I remember seeing 'Serial Mom' when it had just come out and leaning forward prior to the start to kindly warn a mom who was there with her three kids - maybe 6-10 yrs - that the movie might be a tad inappropriate for the kiddies. She turned on a dime and lambasted me with a "why don't ya mind yer own f----ing business, a$$hole!"
  10. any more spoilers? Okay, if you didn't know about the thing with the planes, I don't know what to tell you. Do you also not know what "Rosebud" is? Another spoiler 7/4 ... Watts does not reprise her Mullholland Method! Rosebud! Fantastic movie - virtually empty big theater so got to sit right smack dab where I wanted to! Two bananas way up! Not quite as bowled over by Black (a bit read-y), but Watts was fantastic and really made the green screen work - very much rivaling beyond the Hoskins method in 'Roger Rabbit'. Being able to suspend belief a bit and look at this like you did the original when you saw it for the first time as a kid helps alot. The time flew by. Hey, Coleman Hawkins is great and all but "Body and Soul" is still a good tune when played by someone with talent!
  11. never have seen adult swim (have an antenna) but know cowboy bebop is on there? (never seen that either) but the sndtrk is jazzy and some was recorded at van gelder's. but not much sax in that clip. there is some adult swim / rap album titled "danger doom".?

  13. they don't make headlights like that anymore!
  14. How about some Syd Mead.
  15. does that mean you can finally play that stuff I sent you? just had breakfast with "Uncle Jerry"! that Calvin Weston flips some mean pancakes, don't he?
  16. I JUST got a Panasonic cheapie for $150 w the rebates that does DVD RAM as well as the other formats. Have only snapped the pages back on the manual and tried it a couple of times so I know nothing yet. Does a beautiful job with resolution - and we have one of them things called an antenna on the chimney - the RAMs are like tapes I gather in that you just keep on reformatting them and copying over it for as long as you'd like. Does a variety of time modes for multiple hours on the two hour discs. Not sure what the max is? I plan on archiving some of the 8s we have to DVD (getting rid of those hours of somebody forgetfully recording a glass of wine on the counter) but don't have the time to do it the right way on the computer.
  17. sez: No names starting with mine were in the top 1,000 in any decade.
  18. I truly hope this is not true. I'm not a big Star Wars watcher aside from the marvelous workmanship that goes on but am looking forward to this as the original is more than a classic! I did however see a clip of the mountaintop love in scene and it looked exactly as Flurin predicts. Matte paintings that are all Maxfield Parrish and a gorilla that sits a few yards from where he really is. I hope it comes off as good as the work that went into it. RDK, tell us if Naomi reprises her Mullholland method.
  19. BESTINE!!!! dagnabbit! the WD40 and Goo Gone are too oily and will no doubt leave a residue as well as that awful petrol smell. Might even stain the booklets if they are light and get into the fibers of the paper. Bestine was used mainly as a rubber cement thinner back in the publishing days of placing old "paste ups" when something was not able to go thru the waxing machine. You can get a small can that is similar to the kind the Tin Man used, but flat. Dribbles out just enough and wipe the residue with a tissue a couple times.
  20. She must start using Monica's cleaners.
  21. I'd pull out those old PF lps from the back of the closet but am afraid there might be a small compost heap inside the gatefolds.
