  1. I enjoy Waits much. Dug out these couple articles about what he digs: HERE and HERE. funny about the balloon in that his main man Ribot plays the guitar with them. oonf!
  2. Leena was great when I saw her with Parker a few years back. Beautiful and powerful voice that was unfortunately teamed with Amira Baraka rants. That solo outing is old school soul I think. I did an iTunes search and came up with a cut with some clubby euro rapper too. Sure wish she would do a breakout jazz rekkid cause she's got the lungs and everything else as I recall..
  3. but did someone "monkey" with the graphs???
  4. re: Book Of Angels series. Well I tried my best to have a bit of a boycott of all things Masada-esque for a while as it was all starting to feel the same in so many different ways, but, I just sampled a bit of Jamie Saft Trio's 'Astaroth' Volume-1 in the new series from iTunes and it was stunning. Less Anthony Coleman and more smart CecilMengelNicholsberg from the snips I heard. Anyone have the whole deal to comment upon. I really wish Zorn would chuff out a project of some straight up jazz without the noodles and chicken soup.
  5. Vangelis being nothing more than a cheap, paltry Tomita substitute... Tomita being nothing more than a cheap, paltry Wendy Carlos substitute... etc. etc. and Wendy Carlos being a cheap paltry substitute of Walter...
  6. Marcus, these are at Dusty Groove now as I saw more than a few on the opening page. "Brazilian Octopus" caught my eye for title and cover shot. that Walter Wanderly also sounded good.
  7. funny that article never mentions the "other" woman?
  8. led from DMG's newsletter: Rhino and iTunes only have put up a rarities mix that did not make the time cuts on the DualDisc format. 18 cuts in all with a solo acoustic of Byrne doing Nancy's "Boots..." that's worthy of a visit from some of Frank's boys.
  9. too bad Aric's not here ... I think my keyboard still has a coffee stain from his reply to the essence of a similar line. :rsmile: I had that St Germaine and really liked it, for about a month.
  10. I swore you were a Tom T. Hall fan.
  11. i think those were last seen burning outside a checkpoint, dang. he does have this cut for all you fans of real Bethlehem music. cleek
  12. can't see the image but thassa goodun! man i thought i was bad gettin disgruntled over the "over / under" thing. now what about the fingerprints on the hammer?
  13. two syllables: la-lo
  14. Ativan yipes ... bring on Erica Jong! just had my first Ativan before some retina surgery a couple weeks back. the doc asked if it had taken affect and i told him it did nothing to me as i nearly missed the laser chair on the way down. highly recommended!
  15. how about this
  16. Two cannibals are eating a clown and the one sez - "...this taste funny to you?"
  17. thanks for that doug payne stuff! and that answer.
  18. so as layman ... is it simply because of the lack of trumpet and trombone? those cats are "big" and it sure looks like dinner reservations for them would be considered a "band". granted most of those tracks can be tracked down via those various comps from Verve but I've always felt that this was the perfect Halloween release before you start playing 'Christmas Cookin''. that album shot was my father's record it's not in the best of shape but having listened to it recently it is a shame that it sits scattered across various commercial best-ofs. my bet is that iTunes wil have it in one of the "vault" sets.
  19. got an answer to my query about this. they had to draw the line and did not consider this date a "big band".
  20. I'm w/ Weizen ,too. BUT ... a nine-iron? too clutch of a club for me. plus that two iron is longer and sharper and the grip isn't worn at all.
  21. yipes! i did it with an alias address and low and behold a guy shows up right up the road from the studio here. small town .... i've seen him many times.
  22. just don't try to be cute and Google "little body" ... dang.
  23. So did someone forget that Jimmy Smith's "The Monster" has never been issued since 1965!!! Dagfreekinnabbit! I need to go look up that other thread about this set. better smiley!
