  1. Just found by chance Ben Sidran's interviews from his "Talking Jazz" book on iTunes. At a ten$ner it's a bit rich but his chats w/ Blakey, Roach, Davis and on might be of interest. A bit too short (4:00 a pop), this should have been released in full form as an audio book. Download his "Don't Let Go" OOP Verve Vault instead. edit: title
  2. Damn, I got to go check in on Allen's "Old Guy" thread... I watched the "bassomatic" "LIVE" on the tube during college. I've tried, but have no use for that show now.
  3. it's not blurry at all if you had to go to the potty as bad as those kids!
  4. ps: seeing that tranemonk is in MA i bet he's itching to get that "no sales tax in MA weekend" underway. get yerself over to audiolab in cambridge or Q-audio down by MIT. Tweeter is really BestBuy w/o washing machines. they probably gets Yamahas for dirt.
  5. anything wrong w/ the Denon? seems to me, and I'm no equipment guy, that it's not much of an upgrade at all?? Japanese Watts to Japanese Watts ?? and Denons have always been pretty strong in their high end gear. sure upgrades that Tweeter sales guy's check, tho. my uneducated guess is to go out and buy some new "software" this weekend and keep it til you get something that's more of an upgrade.
  6. sheesh! looks as though the horse was not the wife after all!?
  7. Sad indeed. Saw one of the afro cuban all stars shows a few years back, and no Cooder made it even more impressive. The "circus" popularity of it pushing it over the edge for some musos, but truly an amazing night of music and (observed - not worthy would come to mind) dancing. Those folks were having the best of times and it was a privledge to watch them do so. Interesting serendipity I read was that he was born in a social club during a dance when mom went into unexpected labor. Gather that music was very powerful seventy eight years ago as well.
  8. Dusty Groove for "Off Centre" .... ORDER IT NOW! he's as funky as Rhassan at times. Essential.
  9. SJs would be the place but your going to have a much easier time getting to Looney Tunes. As you used to NYC vinyls I presume they might have some surprises. Getting up to Harvard Square from Brookline on a Saturday is not going to be pleasurable. Going to Newbury Street and "people watching" after your vinyl splurge around the corner might be more relaxing. (and despite that whole big-dig thing i find boston to be less and less pleasurable for getting around if you need to in a hurry)
  10. Happy Birthday Lon! Maybe the moderator will let you play with her Maracas today.
  11. Not to be the A/B-ing type but I tossed in a CDR I had of the CC "Oblique" and Mr. vG has out done himself! If your'e on the fence get off.
  12. after ten minutes w/ the 'heal' tool but i'm a hack at photos. wonder if PhotoShop LE has the "heal" tool? great pic.
  13. Sincere condolences as well to you and your family and friends. Prayers are with you.
  14. My first thought was that Rooster, but they would be peck marks.
  15. Maybe Cooperstown might put a nice little annex on the back of the Hall. I can see Pete with that Golden Shovel now.
  16. talk about corkin' yer bat!
  17. I recall some posters telling of Lonnie Smith's 'Think!' as essential grease? Does one need another version of "Three Blind Mice" and "Think!" or do the couple of lengthy cuts on the disc more than make up for those two?? Please fill me in as this is one re-issue I have never heard.
  18. FWIW The nice lady at BagsUnLTD told me that they sell to JazzLoft.
  19. Check out some Kenny Wolleson, JK. Mean drummer and not too shabby w/ the vibes.
  20. re: Rameriz The Tribe thad some of the same head problems with the guy and they cut him loose after he started to make a stink. Cleveland's a working class town that won't put up w/ that shit out of principal. Hopefully Epstein won't have to try and grow a van-dyke to hide some ass-kissin' stains. Granted the guy was go to last October and should be everyday. Just gotta remember the words of Chico Escuela : "beeseball been berry berry goo to me!"
  21. I've done the same via Bags Unlimited. the illustration on the link shows that you put thebooklet on the left and the tray card in the right side so that the folded over title shows when stored. i use a tyvek disc sleeve as well. you just fold them in half at the seam. only problem is they are a bit flimsy when cleaning seeds. CD Gatefold Sleeve
  22. Triumph's forecast! a quarter of the way down...
