  1. Used to lend out LPs all the time back in the day. But it was only within a small circle of anally retentive sharp needled discwasher weilding friends. I mostly push silly compilations onto my friends who would never even consider requesting anything from my collection as they deem most to be too weird. I have however been thinking about asking if anyone might have any Ellington, Mingus and Roach all on one disc?
  2. Tracey Use3D too bad, but maybe old tentoten forgot that he needs to post a few dozen times or at least open up a little bit of discussion within the intial post to confuse spamalizer. you better watch yerself or this guy might be making animal balloons for ya.
  3. Dusty always ships with "Delivery Confirmation" ... did you check the post office link they provided? the thing usualy never updates for me but I've never lost an order.
  4. Yes, for every song downloaded from Wal-Mart, two tunes are not from those mom and pop distributors. One question - is there a wacky fat gal in stretch pants that welcomes you to the site? and are there any burka wearers??
  5. I had no idea that Byrne and Eno took away controversial tracks on MLitBoG. Boughtthat album when it came out and picked up the CD way back when as well. Are these now sought after collectabilia? I rather doubt it, but...
  6. qu'est que c'est fa fa fa fa fafafafafa fah time for a cafe'!
  7. the best was the other way around when at the old HK airport you could look right in the windows of folks eating their noodles as you threaded the needle and descended right thru the city.
  8. my shiny silver "Gigilo" sounds fine to me. is there something I'm missing with this title? (that first rock and roll tune might be over the top even more via the vangelder) always wondered why some of them RVGs of the 20 bitters that sounded pretty good when released a few years prior - "Sixth Sense" etc..? needed to be given the new compressover.
  9. Probably should post in the recs area but am curious about ths release. Never heard any of them so what say youse? LoneHill...hmmm? From the dusticulus groovisium spuriuses:
  10. Nice! Springtime looks good at the ICA. Mengelberg and the ICP, Ernest Dawkins etc...
  11. Sheesh, those guys at the Cage Institute completely misread his transcription. It was "ears" not "years" and was to be specifically performed for an audience of 319 plus one poor sod from a Tarantino movie.
  12. truly amazing performance... nearly 500 yards from Young. that second half is a highlight reel for the ages. remember the last national champ star that left campus early: hopefully Young will be snatched by a team as exciting as he is.
  13. Aim a hot air blow dryer at the offending sticker for 20 or 30 seconds. This should weaken the adhesive sufficiently to make peeling-off easy. Adhesive residue can usually be removed with nail polish remover. nail polish remover is mainly acetone isn't it? yipes! make sure to pour a little on the van gelder sig in the dead wax.
  14. The Gigilo beats Sidewinder hands down, and every other Lee Morgan I've heard. b,b,but what about that "bashing" on "Yes I Can, No You Can't"?
  15. and ya don't sqeak when you sneeze.
  16. Yesterday's trad New Year's meal was that lifelong midwestern-germanic-dutch-treat of pork and sauerkraut. Supposed to bring good luck for the year. Carmelized onion and garlic then glazed w/ some white wine. Pan seared with a nice chunk of butter a couple big pork tenderloins that I had jabbed garlic cloves into and rubbed w/ thyme and savory. Layed them ontop of and under sauerkraut finished off with the carmelized onions in a clay cooker. Mashed taters with some more butter and warm heavy cream. Nothing quite like that gastric combo and it's aftermath to watch a bowl game by!
  17. Redundancy may be a sign of senility or it may be the effects of ...
  18. and it was a spot on spiral. must be that bamboo. watch out Eli!
  19. I just googled for his vocalist...
  20. Such a sweet sound there Jim. Some very righteous keybs over top on "Hold On".
  21. Don't ya hate that! I remember seeing 'Serial Mom' when it had just come out and leaning forward prior to the start to kindly warn a mom who was there with her three kids - maybe 6-10 yrs - that the movie might be a tad inappropriate for the kiddies. She turned on a dime and lambasted me with a "why don't ya mind yer own f----ing business, a$$hole!"
  22. any more spoilers? Okay, if you didn't know about the thing with the planes, I don't know what to tell you. Do you also not know what "Rosebud" is? Another spoiler 7/4 ... Watts does not reprise her Mullholland Method! Rosebud! Fantastic movie - virtually empty big theater so got to sit right smack dab where I wanted to! Two bananas way up! Not quite as bowled over by Black (a bit read-y), but Watts was fantastic and really made the green screen work - very much rivaling beyond the Hoskins method in 'Roger Rabbit'. Being able to suspend belief a bit and look at this like you did the original when you saw it for the first time as a kid helps alot. The time flew by. Hey, Coleman Hawkins is great and all but "Body and Soul" is still a good tune when played by someone with talent!
