Man, that has to be the dumbest idea for a t.v. show ever! Well, next to Manimal!!! Decomposing body to be shown on TV Jason Deans Thursday November 4, 2004 The Guardian Channel 4, no stranger to challenging broadcasting taboos, is about to cross another televisual rubicon by filming the decomposition of a human body. The broadcaster, which billed the show as a "unique scientific experiment", has in the past featured controversial documentaries showing the first images of aborted foetuses seen on British TV and, two years ago, Britain's first public autopsy for 170 years. Channel 4 is looking for a volunteer with a terminal illness for the decomposition programme, which has a working title Dust to Dust, and will have to get the consent of the volunteer's family. The plan is to film the body decomposing, which could take several months, in London's Science Museum, though not in an area open to the public. Channel 4 defended the project, insisting it could provide forensic scientists with important new information about what happens to the human body after death. At present, decomposition tests are carried out on human bodies in the US but not in the UK - where pigs are used instead - according to the broadcaster. "We hope experts can learn more about the processes involved and that the data collected by the project can help forensic pathologists in murder investigations," said Simon Andreae, Channel 4's head of science and education. Dr Richard Shepherd, a senior forensic pathologist and president of the British Association in Forensic Medicine who will lead a team of scientists, said: "This project represents an urgently required step forward for forensic medical research in this country." The broadcaster yesterday unveiled its winter 2005 schedule, with highlights including a docu-drama about the events leading up to the suicide of government weapons inspector, Dr David Kelly, in July last year. The drama, provisionally titled David Kelly, is being made by the award-winning writer/ director Peter Kosminsky. Dr Kelly is being portrayed by the actor and Globe Theatre director, Mark Rylance; Daniel Ryan plays former BBC reporter Andrew Gilligan; and the role of former No 10 director of communications, Alastair Campbell, is taken by Jonathan Cake. Channel 4's head of documentaries, Peter Dale, said Dr Kelly's family had declined to take part in the project. The broadcaster has also acquired the UK TV rights to controversial Michael Moore documentary, Fahrenheit 9/11, which is expected to be broadcast early next year. A BBC show has been criticised by governors for featuring a crucifix covered in excrement and describing Jesus as a "bell end". BBC3 comedy Cyderdelic was branded "blasphemous and gratuitous" by one offended viewer. It was initially cleared by the BBC's head of programme complaints but the viewer appealed and the complaint was upheld. http://www.guardian.co.uk/uk_news/story/0,...1342762,00.html

If you don't mind me asking, what is it about Stephen Baldwin you didn't like? I think he just can't get his head around the idea of a Bush supporting Baldwin! -

Gee, we forget how screwed up things were there....you'd post one thread, and it would morph into another pre-existing thread! and of course, politics and baseball all on the same thread! http://web.archive.org/web/20021215110357/...?ubb=forum&f=20 -
Well, I got you all beat....I thought I would be between crowds and went to vote a little over 11 a.m. Normally just a 10-20 minute wait. It took me 3 hours and 20 minutes!!!! Somebody fucked up. When we finally got inside, the guy in front of me checked things out...he said the line went up the hallway one side, then down the other side back to the cafeteria entrance where you voted in the school....7 fucking booths!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We have had more booths for fucking runoffs!!!! I saw a few young guys walk in on cell phones, see how long the line was, and leave. How many people, voting for the first time, will want to vote again after waiting 3-4 hours???? I don't know if the touch screens were left at courthouses for early voting, or if some had acted up, but this was nuts. It wasn't all the high turnout, that will just be the excuse used.

Should children witness childbirth? Due to a power outage, only one paramedic responded to the call. The house was very, very dark, so the paramedic asked Kathleen, a 4-year-old girl, to hold a flashlight high over her mommy so he could see while he helped deliver the baby. Very diligently, Kathleen did as she was asked. Heidi pushed and pushed, and after a little while, Connor was born. The paramedic lifted him by his little feet and spanked him on his bottom. Connor began to cry. The paramedic then thanked Kathleen for her help and asked the wide-eyed 4-year old what she thought about what she had just witnessed. Kathleen quickly responded, "He shouldn't have crawled in there in the first place, smack his ass again!"

I got to thinking about this during the amazing Red Sox playoffs....NONE of my friends could give a damn about baseball!! GRRRR!!!! I soooo wanted to talk to a human about it, but after midnight, at least there was this board....But, it isn't just Baseball, most friends don't care for jazz(At least one guy likes Sinatra) I like movies from the 30's and 40's, but for the most part, my friends do not. My Best friend likes a handful of them, but he hates musicals,(I like Judy Garland as well, he wonders about me!) and would still much rather watch a new film. Just in the last few years, have I become friends with some car nuts, but most of my youth, my friends just saw cars as transportation. Sure, we may share some moral, political viewpoints(Though my best female friend is a die hard Kerry supporter! ) It just makes me wonder how I have ended up being good friends with people who don't share most of my interests.... So, everyone here have friends that are like clones of themselves???

I predict Manny! Are you back in the fold, brother Moose???? B-)

One area I forgot about when talking offense is team speed, and against a knuckballer, that could be a big deal. I haven't heard a word about Chris Carpenter, is he out of the WS for sure??? Matt Morris seemed to have a big problem with runners on during the playoffs, all of the sudden, his Curve didn't do much(Forget who was doing the Cards/LA game on TV, but they brought it up) when pitching from the stretch, and I bet that has been a problem all year. Suppan and Williams are probably the best starters right now, I am sure Sox fans must find Suppan's name as a surprise! I think I saw on ESPN that the last 4 WS the Sox were in , they each went to 7 games, and we know how that worked out....Better try it in 6! EDIT.... Why was there so few days between the Playoffs and the WS??? Only one day for the NL team?? I thought there was always 2 days even after a 7 game series!

I surprised myself, and said Sox in 7. Hard to vote against a team that came back from 3-0. I was going to do a poll myself Soulstation1 , and well, your choices were going to be better than mine. I was going to say I that the Cards had a 51% chance of winning it all. It's gonna be close, don't ya think??? The Cards do NOT have a Shilling type of starters, good, but not great. Lots of runs will be scored. The Cards have a better bullpen IMO, at least it hasn't been used quite as much. Didn't I hear that Edmonds made the first error by any Cardinal of the entire post season tonight???? How the hell can that be??? Larry Walker made plays in game 6 that were incredible, somehow keeping Beltran to a single with a ball off the wall, this ain't a little park. Rolen is the best 3rd baseman in baseball. So, Defense is a Cards advantage. Offence is a slight advantage for the Sox, but both are good, Ortiz or Pujols up in the 9th, with runners on? Just walk 'em! That stupid winner of the Allstar game giving home field advantage to their league may be the difference.

Game # 7 Houston Vs. St. Louis
BERIGAN replied to Soulstation1's topic in Miscellaneous - Non-Political
Well, Glad the Cards won, but a bit bittersweet, Astros never have been in the series. I think the Astros have something to build on since they didn't fold like a tent like they have in the past(except 1986, still just about the best playoffs ever) The Cards were the best NL team, and it they hadn't somehow won, I would have wondered it Tony LaRussa was just overrated...Hats off to Houston, a break or two, and they could have won. This loss might keep Clemens around for another year, which is a good thing....Pettite, Oswalt, and Clemens healthy next year??? They might make it all the way...IF they find a way to keep Beltran... -
Geez, first we find out you are a Canadian, then we find you have a Volvo!!! Glad you have a good Volvo....I'll now cover my butt, and say I meant one of these Volvos....
