  1. Your baseball analysis has been shown to be lacking. Hope you are not in the forecasting business. Hm. I called the Rockies, D'backs and Red Sox. Gee, Skeith...3 out of 4 sounds like pretty good odds forcasting wise. Don't you think? I was reacting to your dis of Cleveland as well a your prediction of a Yankee win. You said that Cleveland was just happy to be there - Cleveland won its division - the Yankees did not. And at the end of the regular season, Cleveland tied for the best record in baseball with the Red Sox and goes without saying had a better record than either the Rockies or D'Backs - Cleveland with 2 potential Cy Young candidates - need I go on? So how you can say that Cleveland is just happy to be there is beyond me. OK. So I got one out of four wrong. Big deal. Sue me. Ok Look sorry, while I was a bit offended at your off-handed dismissal of the Tribe, I had initially meant for some of my comments to be a good natured ribbing of you. I see that they were not taken that way and things went downhill . I am sorry.
  2. Dan Am I correct in that there are games Friday and Saturday, no game on Sunday. Game 3 is Monday night
  3. Not for Cleveland fans!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And were we watching the same series, except for the Game 1 massacre, the games have been close. Congrats on the win. If you don't mind, I will now jump on the Indians bandwagon. I realize some of the games were close, maybe it was just Tony Gwynn getting under my skin. Welcome aboard Catesta, as a former Clevelander, you are entitled.

  7. Thanks Dan and we look forward to coming to Boston. May the best team win.
  8. I am so frickin' jealous man. wouldn't it have been great to have been at the Jake tonight and yesterday!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  9. TRIBE BEATS THE YANKS IN GAME 2 - GOODSPEAK IS STRANGELY SILENT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  10. One thing to keep in mind is Pettitte isn't a normal lefty. Lifetime lefties hitters have hit for a higher average off him than righties by 10 points. Some of the brighter managers know this and sometimes don't use their normal platoons. Pettitte pitched a good game at Cleveland last August for what it's worth. That said, who knows how he'll come out today, as those Indians were mighty impressive yesterday. Kenny Lofton played like Rocky Colovtio. I was at the game Pettite pitched in Cleveland and as you say, it was a good game for Andy. On the other hand, of the three games in that series (which the Yankees swept), the Pettite game was the only game that the Indians could have won and I think they lost by only two runs. The other games in that series the Yanks won by much larger margins.
  11. Patrick I could not agree more with your rather accurate game summary and thanks for your good wishes. As for my Tribe hat - before the game yesterday while walking through Manhattan where I work, I was passing a construction site and began to hear boos. Then some guys dropped their tools or whatever and came over to the sidewalk to boo me. But after I said something like "we'll see tonight" - eveyone laughed - so initially I got a bit concerned but it turned out to be good natured. On the other hand, after my wife heard about the Yonkers incident, she practically ripped my Indians cap off my head. But I had another one in my bag, which I am wearing in the office.
  12. Goodspeak are you watching tonight's game? With my Indians beating the Yanks 11 to 3, you might wish to revise your statement.
  13. Go Tribe!!!!!!!!!! I am walking around NYC with my Indians cap on, so if you never hear from me again, you will know what happened.
  14. I have both of those Jarrett american quartet Impulse boxes and love 'em both.
  15. I wishing the best for him!!
  16. Direct quote from Nancy Franklin's New Yorker review: "...a nagging, peskily ever-present sound-track by Wynton Marsalis..." Yes, Nan has a point here. There is one piece of recurring Wynton music that is piano and some high pitched sound - maybe voice -maybe slide guitar - I am not sure what it is but I find it EXTREMELY annoying!!!

is this a download you are talking about ? If so how is the sound quality?
  18. I'm curious too. I just listened to my copy last night for the first time and would agree with what others have said about the sound and the content. Both are very good. There are a couple of places where the audience is clapping after some of the solos and the sound of the clapping seems real loud to me, a bit jarring to my ears. It's a tiny complaint of mine because otherwise it's excellent. I need to relisten to Stella for this darkly funny business. I think I get what Jim was getting at and I agree with him. Compare this version of STella with the celebrated version on My Funny Valentine in 1964. IT seems to me that Miles decided at Monterey not to play this as a beautiful ballad and that he takes many opportunities to confound listener's expectations of what a Miles ballad should be on this tune. I hear some real off-hand sort of I don't care almost hostility towards the tune. But it works and I like it and I like the whole cd.
  19. Welcome to New York!!!
  20. that's the Search I am clicking on but I still get Amazon in the box that opens and my search options area is partially obscured by this. try it and does it happen to you
  21. after my recent problem on ebay - I was wondering if it makes more sense to purchase using paypal. Their website says it is free, but others have told me it is not. Any comments on pros and cons appreciated.
  22. I tried a search today, but was unable to search in the forums - it appears you can only search in Amazon.
  23. I got this one too. THe sound quality is hardly audiophile but the music really shines through with great performances. Love it.
  24. I picked up Ezz-thetics because I love that album. The sound is definitely clearer and brighter, may be too much so for some- but I like it.
  25. I have seen this band many times but may miss this gig. I love them and sounds like you saw a great show!
