  1. "Outlaw" by Gene McDaniels. Good, groovin' rhythm section with Ron, Hugh McCracken and Ray Lucas.
  2. As I recall, there were two incarnations of Cavett's show. The band I'm thinking of was on the 2nd Cavett show. Does the DVD set inclued anyof the latter Cavett shows?
  3. If I remember correctly - the house band included Lou Volpe, Harold Vick, Bob Cranshaw and I think Jimmy Lovelace.
  4. You can count me in as a big KB fan.
  5. Yes. The original lp was on Skye.
  6. Good album. I bought it on vinyl when it was first released. An added plus is the Bernard Purdie, Chuck Rainey, Eric Gayle Rhythm section. Particularly killer Chuck Rainey AND Purdie.
  7.
  8. Hallelujah !!
  9. Get well soon man! Best wishes!
  10. Anycomments on "Stridemonster", Harold? Very good or excellent? Sorry to take so long to reply. I guess I somehow missed the Jan 18, 2006 post. Yeah...it's excellent. Can't miss with Wellstood or Hyman.
  11. Here you go .... Thanks Chas!
  12. Holsten's is five minutes from where I live and every bit as good as the zagat article above says. My wife and I go there frequently, usually for ice cream (home made). Now we probably won't be able get in the door without standing on line.
  13. My favorite. I wish I could find a larger image online.
  14. Thanks Jim - it looks like an intersting site for a Sopranos junkie..I'l be delving into it.
  15. Check this out: http://www.stadiumwall.com/index.php?showt...458&st=520# Carmella upwind from the volcano? OFF THE WALL went off the wall with that one. I like this part of the post right under the one above. Nothing happened in the end-that's the point. A simple meal with the family, yet everywhere he goes there's always the possibility that someone in the crowd is there to kill him, arrest him etc-even when nothing happens. Life of a mobster-you never know what will happen, usually nothing does. These guys who say this happened - that happened - Tony got whacked - Paulie double crossed Tony etcetc are all wet. They don't get it. IF IT ISN'T IN THE SCRIPT IT DOESN'T EXIST. All there is to the show is in the script that is finally shot.
  16. Well...I'm still going to miss it. In that sense I'm glad that the series was open ended. I was just disappointed in the overall quality of the show - and that's been for quite a while, 'tho for me, even a bad Sopranos is entertaining. As an aside - the show was derailed back when Nancy Marchand died. I think Chase had a story ark that was based to a large extent on that character. Every thing had to be rethought and Chase lost some enthusiasm at that point. I've been watching I, Claudius on dvd. Livia, the wife of Augustus Caesar, is portrayed as a murderous schemer. I think it is no accident that Tony's mother was named Livia.
  17. I think Chase has taken somewhat of a "cartoon" attitude of late. Another example was Bobby's hit. The miniature train station with the little men covering their eyes.
  18. Crazy Baby was my first Jimmy Smith lp too It was the first time I realized bass could be played on the organ. Jimmy (and McDuff) were big influences on my Fender bass playing.
  19. Well.. it'sa ballbuster ending from my pov. As some have expected.............it's wide open for more. Why kill the golden goose?
  20. There was one episode on ROCKFORD where two New York mob hitmen were in LA. These guys sat in a motel room and complained about the pizza in LA. "THIS PIZZA STINKS! as they thru a half eaten slice back into the box. (Not to be one up - but everybody in NY, NJ or LI KNOWS that pizza SUCKS everywhere in the world else. As does most Italian food.) This episode had me laughing my ass off. I wish I could find it and see it agoian. I'm sure it was a Chase directed episode. Well...less than an hour to go. I'm glued in place.
  21. It's 2:44 Am. Tonight the series final is being premiered. I just looked on my Yahoo tv guide and saw that 135 people have apparently seen the show already and have given it a positive or negative rating. The rating is 92% positive and 8% negative. From this I would deduce that Tony survives.
  22. Thanks again Valerie. Nice article.
  23. Ok. When I got home I checked. The two Jazztone lps (same band) Sammy Price In Concert The Price Is Right I don't know of a cd reissue of either.
