If I recall correctly - there were TWO Jazztone lps by the Sammy Price Bluesicians.

The rumor mill has it that Chase shot at least 3 different endings. Really...what ever happens will be controversial...at least among fans. If Tony dies it's a bummer despite the fact that he is what he is. I'm hoping he survives. And I'm hoping Phil meets his demise. What a miserab. So that would be the "happy" ending. I've heard rumors to the contrary...BUT...Chase shot 3 endings. I did think it strange that Phil gave Paulie a pass.

Another one. Not billed as the All Stars, but really an all star lineup. Pops and Big T

Something for all of us to enjoy, but espescially for those who haven't had the pleasure....One of the classic lineups. DIG POPS AND THE ALL STARS! Pops is tops !

Happy Birthday, Pete! And many more healthy and happy!

I just watched it over at Loronix and came here and saw this post. Yeah! It's great.

Brodie is a great player, well worth seeing. How far upstate is the gig?
-
Then I heard it wrong. What did he say? Ass.
-
I don't think he said "eyes".

Little Carmine as the manipulator. Makes a lot sense Chris. I thought that Tony's reaction to the Meadow incident was realistic. Actually the guy is lucky he didn't get killed. It was a BIG violation of mob ethics to threaten or otherwise mess with family members that were "civilians". At least with the old timers. I think one of David Chase's points is these guys AREN'T like that. They'll do anything. So I wondered if it was a set up - a machination by Phil to provake a reaction from Tony.
-
I've always heard Stor - DAHL (no particular emphasis on the last syllable. like this: Store-doll.)
-
So much for Chris flipping. Pretty good episode all in all. Chris's demise is low key - Tony making a decision in an instant to take advantage of a situation and get rid of a liability. Chase is doing a good job of showing us that these guys are really sociopaths.
-
I think the show will focus increasingly on Tony's need of money and his internal and family (immediate family and "extended" family) conflicts. I think there is a good chance that Chris "flips" and there are incictments. I think that the conflict betweend Tony and Phil increases. Chase has been playing it increasingly for laughs - there is also the possiblity that that aspect increases. The show is half a comedy now.

I feel like I'm just scratching the surface with Elis too, but of what I've heard, I like "Elis & Tom" the most. I just mpurhcase the "Live in London", but haven't had a chance to give it a listen yet. No question she's a major talent.

Bill Doggett- FINGERTIPS (Columbia)
Harold_Z replied to chewy-chew-chew-bean-benitez's topic in Artists & Recordings
Chewy, do you mean a cd reissue? Or a vinyl reissue? I know of two other Bill Dogget Columbia lps. OOPS and PRELUDE TO THE BLUES. Both are more interesting to me than FINGERTIPS. I have all of them on vinyl but if there are cd and they are in superior sound I might go for them. BTW, on OOPS the guitarist if Floyd Smith - one of the earliest electric guitarists. He plays a MEAN Honky Tonk. -
Bill Doggett- FINGERTIPS (Columbia)

This lp is very mid 60s instrumentally poppish, likely the most commercial of Doggett's Columbia lps. He does instrumental versions of a lot of "hits" of the day, plays them fairly straight and without a lot of blowing. For the sidemen (not named)it's probably pretty much like doing the original date - just another R&B session. This isn't really a "jazz" date. At least not imho. Bill's organ sound is different here. No vibrato or leslie for the most part. Unusual for him. So for me it's far from the greatest Bill Doggett, but on the other hand it's likely not to be reissued and when all is said and done I'm glad I have it. I don't listen to it often, but it is a very accurate picure of the times in which it was recorded. -
I don't think the death of Hesch's girlfriend was a hit. If Tony's going to pay Hesch anyway, then why bother with a hit? And why hit her and not Hesch? Why make the hit so oblique? Hits are supposed to be obivious if they are sending a message. I think Tony will continue to be short of cash. I think it's part of the story line and will play a big part in where the show goes. Tony needs bucks, Tony is losing control, etc etc. Unless the plot reveals something to the opposite, my assumption is that the gambling problem would continue.

A solid musician! Sorry to hear this news. RIP Tommy.

Os Afro Sambas de Baden E Vinicius by Baden Powell and Vinicius De Moraes. It's a 1966 album recently reissued on Universal. There was a recent thread on Brazilian music and this album was highly recomended by TTK and appatently everybody else who already had it.

Get This album! OK - I tried to find the previous thread about Bossa Nova and had no luck so please bear with me. I ordered it online and got it about three days ago. It IS a master piece. It's been in my car stereo since the day I got it. It's only 8 tunes but WOW !! ..........it's great stuff -I'm in a groove and listening to it over and over and over. Not what I expected in terms of guitar. I thought Baden's playing would be way upfront, but it's not. He just plays exquistely as a band guitarist- a studio man if that is term you would prefer. He sings his parts where they are needed. It's not a guitar centered album. It a SONG centered album. And great songs they are. Who is the drummer? Is it Edison Machado? Whoever it is he is ON THE MONEY !! Quateto Em Cy adds a lot also. It's a 4 voice chick singer thing and it's mostly in unison , but WOW! It is just in the right place and right sound and YEAHHHHHH ! I love it! Again - Get this! It's terrific.

Exactly! Better to pay a small amount than get a refund. The ideal is pay a few hundred. -
Paying The Freakin' Man: The 2007 Tax Return

You deduct what you pay in mortgage interest from your income via Schedule A, so you save what you would have paid in taxes on the amount you deduct. So whatever bracket you are in, say an 18% bracket, you pay $180 dollars less in taxes on every thousand you deduct in mortgage interest.
