Both Johnny Hodges sets, Chico Hamilton (yes, yes!), J.J. Johnson, Shorty Rogers, Andrew Hill, Elvin Jones, Jimmy Giuffre, Blue Mitchell, Gerry Mulligan, ...
Only ONE favorite - impossible!!!
Hmm! I love the Shank too. The Giuffre is another set I play very often. But I have my problems with the Jones/Lewis (May I say that here at all?! ) and the Smith (as White Lightning said before, we all know better material from this B3-titan).
- MD3-166 Curtis Fuller
- MD3-167 Sam Rivers
- MD3-172 Thad Jones
- The Blue Note Years - 60th Anniversary 14CD Box Set
- Dexter Gordon - Complete Blue Note Sessions
- Herbie Hancock - Complete Blue Note Sessions
Please consider that it's not the standard LP-size Mosaic Box & booklet. But Mosaic told me via email that it is within the 10.000 copies edition. Maybe this "Spiegel Edition" is the reason why the Ellington set hits the "Running low"-category that fast!
At present I possess no records of the 200g Quiex SV-P Classic Records series but I intent to buy some titles. Should I get the Mono or Stereo releases? Which one sound better?
Yes sir!

Copy-controlled or not. It is a very lovely Trio session. Together with his previous release "Stardust" his best output for years.
BTW, the sound of the copy controlled edition is fine.
Hi Gary, I also got the Mail. However I asked amazon uk, why they cancel my order on the one hand but still offer the CD on their homepage. Thereupon they added the CD to my order again.
The complete "Smokin' at the Half Note" is part of the VERVE-2fer "Wes Montgomery - Impressions". You'll get the complete concert + essential Wes tunes. Great 2CD-set, IMO!
In addition to the previous recommendations, I recommend "It's all right" (Verve Elite Series).
