  5. I'm just looking around (CDJapan, HMV Japan) and found some impulse! Japan releases with street date "June 04". Are these brand new reissues like the BN TOCJ-6xxx-series or 2nd Editions of older releases? Did somebody listen to them? What about the sound quality?! Thanks!
  6. 'George Shearing & The Montgomery Brothers' on JAZZLAND. I like this one!
  7. For everyone who can't await to see the OBI strip!!!
  8. Hodges sessions (1951 - 1955) - again and again and again!!!
  9. It is funny to see a lot of people selling their domestic or Japan Blue Notes on eBay or jazz boards in order to buy the new thing – the next edition series of a CD remastering. The first collection of Blue Note TOCJ are from the early & mid 90'ies, then the JRVG appeared in 1998, the US version followed in 1999 and now the TOCJ-6XXX hits the market. (Let's forget the SACD & DVD-A story. They are dead right from start!) I bought a lot of JRVG and was more disappointed than happy with them. Should I switch to the new TOCJ-6XXX series or go back to the older TOCJ???? NOPE, mates! Within the last two years I invest more and more of my money in good old vinyl and can recommend it to anybody. The sound of original pressings is beyond everything. We all know that. But even GXK's from KING or most TOCJ-vinyl from Toshiba are (by far) better than any CD edition ever produced. Hopefully the vinyl hype will end at some point in the near future because prices for vinyl are beginning to go crazy. Hmmm… I'm not the only one with this opinion, I think!
  10. Amazon.de offer the Sonets for €9.99 (regular price, no special offer)!

  16. If I'm not mistaken ... Marsh was such a bad übermotherfucker!
  17. He used lenses from the 1920ies, old cameras and sound equipment. In addition they carefully scratched the negative.
  18. Les McCann - On time I voted for Django in the "Mosiac Guitar Poll Thread". But the Joe Pass box is brilliant too.
  19. I have the Joe Pass, Django and Johnny Smith and voted for the Django. But all three boxes are "MUST HAVES"!!!
  20. Interesting how many of these New York pressing made it to Europe. Did people carry their collections overseas, or order from the States, or were early American (especially New York) pressing Blue Notes carried in European shops as a matter of course? I'm not sure but I think that "early" Blue Note's were only pressed in the States. The only european pressing I own is a german blue/white Liberty pressing. Art Blakey/Roots and herbs.
