http://bebopflute.com/ I'm with you there, and very few of them have ever appeared on cd. Most is one of those lesser known guys who would really benefit from a box and probably will never get one, but I loved his work. RIP. gregmo Complete Xanadu would be interesting.

Two guys were my musical mentor/friends: Moody and Most. Some musical commonalities in the flute n' sax thing, but also two nice cats. I favored Sam's tenor work He gave me a tenor-only or nearly so album back around 1980 ( not at-hand to give particulars). More importantly, he promised to focus on the tenor when he played at my wedding I sadly an offer I was never able to take him up on. Sorry it was time to go, Sam.

Time to resurrect the old birthday thread. I hope it's a great one. -
An interesting development. I'm still sorting through the rights and valuation information, but it's intriguing. Pandora Media Inc. (P), the biggest online radio service, bought a station in South Dakota to gain the same access to music and rates as terrestrial competitors. Are there any box bargains currently available?

deepdiscount.com has a pretty big sale going on. 25% off not-outrageous starting prices. Here's a sale link. http://www.deepdiscount.com/index.cfm/fuseaction/search.productBrowse?sid=5c30cdf927fed9e24b603b6e35586b112573&resultsPerPage=48&Ns=p_units_sold|1&Ne=1000&N=1000049+2391&viewType=list I don't really shop enough to know whether these are good prices or not: Bill Evans 1961 Vanguard $18.89 Trane 1961 Vanguard $33.47 Monk Complete Prestige $16.06 Trane One Down One Up $16.22 Pres Savoy Complete $19.17 (just some samples; actual sale is 888 "jazz" items, single discs and boxes) Free US Shipping at $25+ I know the Trane Side Steps price is high. -
It's been years since I've had to mow a lawn, but it used to be one of those tasks where I'd never procrastinate. I'm always eager to do a task that yields quick, visible results. A task my "wife" might even notice. Painting almost fits in that category, if it's somewhere I don't have to do much clean-up/drop-clothing, like a fence. I'll wash a really dirty car in an instant. Or toss an animal carcass out of the yard.

I'm usually doing it in the waiting room.

what are you drinking right now?
BeBop replied to alocispepraluger102's topic in Miscellaneous - Non-Political
"K" cup Tully's French Roast decaf. A few years ago, I decided that K Cups were just undrinkable swill. Maybe my standards have slipped, but this is okay. -
I don't know how many years ago that someone (or more like "everyone") told me to "get a life". And here I am. Actually, my life (365 days a year traveling/in hotels) keeps me from too much procrastination. I can't procrastinate about household stuff, with no house. All my worldly possessions are with me all the time (exaggeration, but you get the idea), so I can't claim some inability to access a critical element of getting the task done. Work is job-to-job; gotta finish one to get paid and go on to the next. My only valid excuse to procrastinate is 100+ hour workweeks. Hence the stalling on getting a life. Could add "The Television Song", I suppose. Then again, when Overbrook was written, it didn't have words, right? So was it autobiographical? Gil Scot Heron's "On Coming From a Broken Home" ...if I understand the question here....and maybe I don't. It seems like there are almost innumerable self-referential/pseudo-autobiographical songs out there. Just by way of example (this example chosen because a lot of live performers I see don't do much in the way of announcing songs), at the Janiva Magness show I went to, she said something like "these next three (four?) songs are autobiographical. "Whistling in the Dark" was, I think, one of them.

The financial part (along with my utter lack of talent) ran me out of the music business back in the 70s. Music life these days is a concert (including three with the much more talented and skilled Mr. Alfredson) when I can squeeze it into a 100+ hour workweek. But it seems pretty clear that music - live music in particular - is just slipping down people's priority list. One reason, in my mind, is that people want something at no cost (a different thing than "free"). So they'll YouTube and download and freeload. And the creator gets zip. Sad.

All the best, 2013!

From what I have read, Congress gave the land to the City of SF for free back in 2008. And you're right, developers are making this once useless land into a residential/multi-use facility. Great idea if you ask me. Glad to hear the Island is now in City hands. I hadn't heard, though I knew it wasn't private. Hopefully, the Navy took care of clean up before handing over a "hot potato". (Sure, the cleanup was all government money anyway you slice it, but I have more faith in the Navy on this task. But what do I know... ;-) )

Somehow, he didn't hit my radar until but I came away liking Rebirth Live at the Zoo enough that I picked up Next Rebirth and Further Adventures (?). He was also on a track or few with Sonny Simmons (ESP). Later, I found he was on an LP from my old pal Smiley Winters. All good. RIP.

Thanks, Hans. It was posted over in the Bargain Box thread a couple of days ago. Still, worthy of more visibility.

8 Affordable Classic Cars Beloved by Retirees

This is essentially why I joined the club 30 years ago, but have never purchased one. (Current lifestyle prohibits purchase, even if "lust" got the best of me.) -
Happy Birthday again, Ray!

I've got a laptop with Windows 8. That's why I'm posting this from my phone. No lie. Even the web browser is unusable, unless you have a touchscreen, and even then... I can't "tile" (verb).

I hope it's a great one!

Speakeasy Jazzcorner Forums Shutting Down July 1

I do think a lot of the "regulars" here do either contribute to the board maintenance fund or to Organissimo/Jim Alfredson projects.
