  1. Does chat still exist? (I don't have the required software, so I can't tell.) Does anyone use it?
  2. Enjoy your day!
  3. Almost missed it, but Happy Birthday, Vibes! ....wherever you are.
  4. "Proto Hipsters at the Trough" Last week's New York magazine listed abut 20 new businesses opening in the next couple of month's (in what appeared to be a high-priced promotion). As I recall, four or five of them were Brooklyn vinyl stores. I remember when record stores opening on a shoestring and a prayer.
  5. Better late than never, I always say. I hope it was a GREAT one, Sidewinder!
  6. "B Stock" usually refers to merchandise has been returned to the manufacturer, repaired, reinspected, repackaged and returned to it's original factory condition; sometimes it's display or trade show merchandise. I've also heard it used to describe merchandise with minor blemishes and discontinued items, though I don't think this is "technically" correct...especially since discontinued items should be clearly disclosed. It is sometimes misused to describe "demo" equipment.
  7. I'll resume posting these as I come across them. I'd quit a while back when it seemed like interest was nil.
  8. Sold! No seriously, it does sound promising. Not all of Bud's bigger-than-trio recordings work well for me, but this will be worth a listen. Thanks for the advance notice.
  9. Have a great birthday!
  10. Coupon $5 off $25 at brick and mortar locations through September 10th.
  11. I guess I hadn't been paying attention ("indifference", I think it's called) so I wasn't aware he'd done another, six years later. I've only caught him live-in-trio once, and it was a fine, if not revelatory, experience.
  12. Moved to 2930 1st Ave. S., Seattle, WA 98134 Also in Northgate areas at 9560 1st Ave NE Alternatives: Everyday Music has a big CD selection and LPs on Capitol Hill (uphill, medium-length walk from Downtown) 1520 10th Ave, between Pike St & Pine St I also like the subterranean Netpune Music in University District, 4344 Brooklyn Ave NE
  13. People? Pointing? Smiling? Three strikes, I'm out?
  14. Double down. The Pointer Sisters, pointing. Maybe.
  15. I like the cover so much that, even though he's only kind-of pointing, here it is.
  16. ???????? I only have a download on my MP3 player, so no liner notes at hand. Is this the same? "Le Jazz Fait Son Cirque" Edited to add: Looks like Rooster beat me to that version.
  17. Have a happy one!
  18. Man, there must be 50 or more. At least a third of the live recordings from Keystone Korner over the last five-plus years of its life and a fw before that (Dex, Hub, Chet, Rahsaan, Jaki, Blakey), some from the early days of Yoshi's on Claremont (Johnny Coles/Frank Wess< Jessica Williams), a couple at Maybeck an most of the Concord Jazz Fest recordings.
  19. To Lester, whose music was the reason I got addicted to this whole jazz thing in the first place. Happy Birthday, Pres.
  20. I had no idea he was 69 years old. (which kind of puts him in autobio territory, I guess, age-wise) ...with a first recording as leader in 1981? and as sideman just a year earlier?
  21. Interestingly, no one has mentioned M*A*S*H. The theme Suicide is Painless gets considerable "jazz" play. For me, I could just about list it on the concurrent thread to this one about "songs you hate".
  22. If you like Flintstones (on Rhythm changes), how about Star Trek (on Out of Nowhere)?
  23. "Look at me, ....." You sure you wouldn't re-think if Chuck was singing it?
