  1. I've tried everything from iTunes, to Toast, Windows Media Player, to opening the disc in the search and copying the files directly as "data"
  2. I did some searching but couldn't find anything. So here is the dilemma. I bought an album that doesn't play in any cd player I own (3 separate units including my car), my external disc drive on my Mac, my MacBook Pro (when I had a similar issue with a Miles Mosley in the past the MacBook Pro worked) or a PC or my playstation. My Mac and MacBook both see the disc as blank and the cd players either blank or error. Lastly the PC read the data but I received an error every time I tried to rip it. Anyone have any ideas on how to get this music off the disc?
  3. I was referring to owning the right for perpetuity including the compositions if I remember correctly. I don’t have the book on hand. Have you read the book to know the scenario we are referring?
  4. Yes I agree. I was disappointed to hear that. I do wish they actually said how much they had to pay Steeplechase. He may have just seen it as a chance to “stick it to the big label” and wasn’t anything against Dexter. Those Steeplechase contracts sounded like a horrible one for the artist though.
  5. I finished it this morning. More insightful as you go... a little I suppose. There is a lot of “I believe” or “in my opinion” which I personally don’t consider insight. And per this book Dexter loved every drummer he played with. Haha. It was a good read, the last couple chapters the best which makes sense since Maxine was present. Worth picking up, but will pass on instead of keeping for a reread.
  6. Frank Loesser was also a time traveler since he was singing about Rohypnol way before it existed...
  7. I'm a little more than 100 pages in. The timeline jumps around and there is an ample amount of repeating in all chapters thus far. Still a worthy read. Maxine interjects personal proclamations that I could live without but it is a fascinating read regardless. Crazy how much of the scene Dexter lived in overlapped with the scene Horace Tapscott fostered in. Connected by a band director in high school.
  8. Charles McPherson - The Prophet picked this up yesterday at a favorite shop I don't visit nearly enough
  9. Andrew White - Fat Backin' Vol. 5
  10. KJazz 88.1 in Los Angeles
  11. As a fan of Osby’s music, and a passive follower of Lovano, I’ve always had the same feeling when spinning it.
  12. Thanks for the heads up! I actually only got The Happening because there was a copy on amazon for $1.72. I did end up ordering Intuition and The Joy of Being as well.
  13. I owned one album from Francois Carrier and love it (Compassion - Naxos 2000) which I listened to again last night and decided to explore more of his output. I purchased Happening - Leo Records 2006 All'alba - Justin Time Records 2003 Katmandu - FMR 2007 All Out - FMR 2011 The Russia Concerts Vol 1. - FMR 2014
  14. an album I picked up on a whim and is an absolute favorite
  15. ran an odd gambit today but really enjoying the Dodo that came in today
  16. Was his last released solo concert Rio?
  17. I’m pretty sure I have some or all of this on other releases but really looking forward to the booklet. Dodo really has a lot of compilations out for various labels and most are bare of information aside from maybe who he’s playing with.
  18. One of my all-time favorites
  19. I bought the Dave Douglas 50th B-Day for a great bargain on amazon to go with the Brazen Heart live set on Black Friday.
  20. I have an extra copy of John carter - Shadows on the Wall on cd if anyone is interested. Ship free to a member in the US. Found it in a $1 bin and couldn’t let it sit there Spoken for! Thanks!
  21. Dream Machine is a fusion-esque album, very good, mostly electric band. Attached is a standard solo piano album and EXCELLENT Don't have Aurora but I'll definitely get it. Its Poo solo on synthesizer
  22. I typically prefer Dave's live recordings over the studio releases, and at the price point they had this, it was a no brainer. And its really good!
