  1. I've been doing my running at around 5 am, to avoid others. Its basically when I ran before all this because of work but I've decided to maintain it since no one is out. But yesterday I had placed an online order from a record shop trying to do my part in supporting only to go to pick it up and find they were just open for business. No mask, there was one customer in there that I saw. I was asked if I wanted to look around and honestly the proposition did not appeal to me and i grabbed my order and left. I'm probably done shopping there due to this experience.
  2. Here is a fun one. Not sure how it took 5 days to go from Jacksonville to San Francisco...or why it went there, but then took 10 days to go from San Francisco to LA. 3. A couple things I know about Amoeba, at least here in SoCal. Their employees really love the owners, and what they do. They also employ or used to employ a lot of artists. I have a friend who plays bass for a few bands and they would really worked with his schedule when he worked there. Pretty sure he still goes to their christmas party and he hasn't worked there in a few years. I also contend it's not the same place it used to be, but they do have a ton more competition than they used to. And the Hollywood location is packed on the weekends, it's actually impressive they have so much stock with so many people buying stuff. I've been there when every register is open and there is still a line. That's 10-12 registers open still backed up. The dispensary thing makes sense to me if you can make it a profitable component of your store. Probably make more on weed than on their giant classical section (the rumor was it was going there in the old location). My old buddy Lee at New Life Records in Nashville told me back in 2006 or so the only thing keeping him afloat was his pipes and bongs he sold. He just loved music and wanted to keep the shop. The new location i think is going to be a lot smaller. And they aren't constructing the building, I'm pretty sure they are leasing (i don't think they bought it) a location but are trying to get the store set up the way they want. It's a store front in a building with other retail space. The old spot was only them. Honestly the new location is kinda shitty parking wise based on my limited time there. If you knew about the two hour validation at the old spot across the street it made it super easy, especially on the weekends.
  4. This is tough to hear but i, like you would expect many stores to be in trouble. If Amoeba only had enough savings to keep afloat for a month, I'm sure smaller outfits are in much dire straits.
  5. Kognitif - Soul Food This joint is jammin'!
  6. Appreciate the heads up!! I’m not worried about the 15% off I can’t miss out in this at the listed price!
  7. Agreed. I actually spun it last night. A CD I bought last May and never got around to. Sonically its acceptable but nothing noteworthy. Musically its excellent.
  8. I'm listening more. Tuning into radio broadcasts on the weekend now which I never did before. Only consumed in my car. I've made a few purchases from Bandcamp. Finally got around to getting the Bob Reynolds tribute album to Hank Mobley and then he came out with a new one I pre-ordered and should get today. I wish I could support my local record shops but they make it too damn hard. I don't get why they aren't taking this time to go online, or creating newsletters. They barely have inventory on discogs. I tried paying cash and they balked at the idea, though this was the biggest shop in town and one of the few that sells new releases I was buying used items. I'm used to getting the cash "discount" at other spots.
  9. Obrador - More Odd Jobs bought on the strength of Bert Wilson being involved...and it has exceeded expectations!
  10. Ive got a bluetooth one...that i still use
  11. Suff Daddy - Birdsongs
  12. P. Original - Regeneration bought locally via discogs and picked up from their storefront via trunk delivery. Still trying to support my local shops when I can.
  13. Agreed. Bandcamp is the new CDBaby and you are purchasing directly from the artist increasing their direct income. Better for everyone...as long as the artist is dedicated to sending out their product.
  14. Suff Daddy - Pompette Pre-ordered this, got delayed, forgot about it and was surprised to receive it last weekend. Took a few spins but it is really growing on me.
  15. Agreed. In case anyone is curious what a box set looks like in collectorz. https://imgur.com/lElH5S0 https://imgur.com/WBleNAc
  16. This is how I do it as well, Brad may want something that requires no input at all. I don’t know but to tell me you can’t do something that I’ve clearly done for a decade means he has determined he is right in his mind and I’m okay with that. I don’t care I’m anyone else ever uses Collectorz, but I’m glad to have it.
  17. That's not true. I have all my box sets in Collectorz as sets not individual discs. I don't really advocate for Collectorz especially if it is only by subscription but it is a wildly flexible platform. You can export to excel and mostly it imports release info from discogs.
  18. capping the night off with some Syl.
  19. Memphis Willie B - Introducing a wonderful collection of songs but "The Stuff Is Here" is by far my favorite.

Live in Europe is just a re-ordered version of Ole i believe. I enjoy Live in Paris. I also have Eye of the Improviser. It's a bit all over the place but enjoyable.
  21. Jeff Pifher And Socrate's Trial - Alternate Futures Past Realities Steve Adams/Vinny Golia Duo - Philosophy of Air Vinny Golia/Steph Richards/Bert Turetzky - Trio Music The Forgetting Machine - Systematic and Quantitative (free with the above order!) Bobby Bradford - Live at the Magic Triangle Bobby Bradford - The Delaware River Bob Reynolds - A Message for Mobley Bob Reynolds - Runway and a bunch of zydeco if anyone is interested
  22. I didn't know collectorz was a subscription now. I bought it long ago and paid a one time fee. the app was a separate fee. It's connected to discog's, that where it pulls most its information. I just manipulate after what information I want.
