I used to talk to him almost everyday about 10 years ago when I lived in Nashville. Sad to hear he passed. He was dealing with a lot. Actually I guess it was 13-14 years now. Wow

I placed two orders from the same vendor in Germany, one on 04/06 and one on 04/09. The First order arrived in about two weeks, the second I still haven't seen. From Japan I have an order from April 12th I'm still waiting for. Domestically items seem to be arriving but are all over the place with how long it takes.

I actually need to go to home depot today. I hope I don't have an issue like that. Geez

I would agree with your analysis given I am fairly happy with how California has handled this, problem is more the national narrative is changing how people are approaching daily life.

I do wonder what the anger is about wearing a mask. It is to just be defiant or is it just people privilege showing.

COVID-19 III: No Politics For Theejcam_44 replied to ghost of miles's topic in Miscellaneous - Non-Political I find it Interesting that a lot of the people who want reopen and get back to “normal” are in the hospitality industry. I do wonder how may people are interested in renting the cabin by the lake with the potential economic downturn. I know we have planned to alter our vacationing this summer due to everything.

Reminds me of Cespedes when he was the with the A’s. My wife and I went to a game against the Angels (I’m an A’s fan and she’s and Angels fan) and he gunned someone down at home, I can’t recall who but as he was rounding 3rd I told my wife he’s gonna get thrown out.

Friday is upon us, I thought it would be fun to see what everyone picked up, and may inspire others to buy. I picked up beat tapes this time. Almost exclusively cassettes, mainly because I rebuilt a Tandberg earlier this year, and secondly I have a cassette display to fill, and they are a bit cheaper so I can buy more. Plus they all come with a digital download so there isn't a need to transfer. https://crashsymbols.bandcamp.com/album/sanctuary https://crashsymbols.bandcamp.com/album/transporting-salt https://acclimatedassassin.bandcamp.com/album/out-of-the-blue https://etiv.bandcamp.com/album/eighth-house https://godfingaz.bandcamp.com/album/- https://godfingaz.bandcamp.com/album/fingaz-technique https://osoblanco.bandcamp.com/album/oso-blanco-heartbreak-kid https://pigpen.bandcamp.com/album/summer-state-remastered https://purplebastard.bandcamp.com/album/down-out-htx https://purplebastard.bandcamp.com/album/golem https://sweatsonklank.bandcamp.com/album/super-natural-delights

Potential Undocumented Charlie Parker Recordingjcam_44 replied to jabird's topic in The Vinyl Frontier If these were recorded in KC in January of 1947 I don't think it was Bird. He was in Los Angeles that whole time I'm pretty sure.

Amoeba Music stores in financial difficultiesjcam_44 replied to duaneiac's topic in Miscellaneous - Non-Political Yes it was but it is sad to never get to set foot in there again. That building was special. Apparently they had a lot of things planned to say goodbye to the location as well. Concerts and the such

Electric Recording Co.: Artisanal Vinyl; Insane Pricesjcam_44 replied to Mark Stryker's topic in Audio Talk So he's doing it for the sheer love of it? I can appreciate that. Not sure how he is acquiring titles that have no tape degradation but that is the most impressive part to me. Haha. I think most people would be surprised how well albums sounded on a good setup. The best part of the article was “Audiophiles listen with their ears, not with their hearts,” Hutchison said. He added: “That’s not our game, really.” I would love to hear him expound on this.

COVID-19 2.0: No Politics editionjcam_44 replied to ghost of miles's topic in Miscellaneous - Non-Political But then you're not throwing a rock from one side to the other. You've changed you goal to only reach the other side. So we have gone from research and development on alternate energy sources to changing our consumption habits. If we continuously change the goal we will continuous be chasing something different. My only point is, its much easier to want renewable energy than actually practical give energy needs. Solar and wind are cheaper to build and maintain, but are as useful when their energy source is not predictable. Most if not all major utilities are utilizing them in some capacity and are attempting to increase as they can.

COVID-19 2.0: No Politics editionjcam_44 replied to ghost of miles's topic in Miscellaneous - Non-Political That’s a real piss poor argument. By your logic massive resources should be used towards all endeavors no matter their feasibility. If I keep trying to throw rocks over the Atlantic Ocean every day maybe one day my arm will become strong enough to do it.

COVID-19 2.0: No Politics editionjcam_44 replied to ghost of miles's topic in Miscellaneous - Non-Political As someone who works in the utility industry and has a very solid foundation in solar, I don't believe the solar would have evolved any quicker, and the problem now is panels installed 20 years ago are so inefficient they need replaced but what do you do with old panels? Dump 'em? There is very limited recycling of panels now and they aren't able, at least to my knowledge, extract the most valuable components at this time. Wind generation destroys the ground below the turbine, hence why they are always in the desert and how would you store energy for future use when the sun ain't out or the wind ain't blowing? Batteries? That's a whole issue of itself. Its so easy to say lets be green when you don't have to figure out how to do it.

Not sure if anyone purchases from bandcamp, but they are waiving their fees on Friday so artists can make more money. I missed this the last time they did it. There are a few I've been holding out for so I am going to purchase them Friday. I've added the email below. Greetings, A few Fridays ago, we waived our revenue share to help musicians impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic. The Bandcamp community (very possibly including you!) went above and beyond, paying $4.3 million to artists and labels in just 24 hours. It was an inspiring day, and we heard many requests to do it again, so we’re going to do exactly that. This Friday, May 1, we’re once again waiving our revenue share for all sales on Bandcamp, from midnight to midnight PDT. If you’re fortunate enough to be in a position to spare some funds, please join us in providing some much-needed support to the many amazing artists on Bandcamp. Details are here, and please help us spread the word!
