Nice. I see some songs of my repertoire and my alter ego is playing a part in that movie as well. lol. Some suggestions I can come up with right now: - Come-on-a-my house - Julie London - Marvin and Miles - Gare du Nord - Temptation - Diana Krall - You turn me on baby - Nichaud Fitzgibbon - Experience Unneccessary - Sarah Vaughan

Perfetti Sconosciuti, 2016 Italian Good story. The tilte means "Perfect Strangers", it is about not knowing people who are close to you and I think that there can be quite some truth in it.

Happy Birthday, Thom!

Hi Hutch, thank you, that is helpful. I did notice the similarity about the baritone. That will be easier. I heard someone tell about the instrument being warm of sound as well, so I might just choose that one. I am looking further into this all, including what strings etc. Thanks again. Hi Bill, thank you for pointing him out. I will check out his music. Do you know which type he played? It doesn't look like a baritone to me, it is smaller I think.

Hi HuchF, that would be great. Thanks. I didn't know about your son playing, I rememberi him from the photo you've showed me. Nice! Ah, wait a minute, you have two! Which one? Kind regards, page

That is not what I've said, H.P. You misunderstand me. Nothing secret about it, just a working area and only during the process of making. Of course it was intended for all to read, with approval of the family. I suggest you go to Tm with your questions. I can't tell you more than I have. Thanks Big Beat Steve. The forum was hacked indeed on a few occasions. Nothing happened to the project at that time as far as I know. -

Hi HP, I'm happy to hear that. Maybe I reacted a bit over protective, that is because I care a lot about this.. I'm not suggesting I was her only friend, far from that. The thread you are referring to was not the private section, it was password protected so members couldn't get in except for those working on it. As far as I know it hasn't been hacked. I don't know about the work Jeff did, maybe he was one of us in that case under a nickname probably if he had one, or maybe it is just my mistake not remembering his name. He can contact Tenorman as well should he want to continue. I'm sorry for misunderstanding you, but you know how it is with stories on the internet, they grow bigger by the minute. We were careful with the project, really. -

Sorry for getting upset, but Sandi was my friend. Reading about her makes me miss her so much again. For me the only way to do this was being sincere and thorough about it. It is what she would have wanted. sincerely page -

The project was never hacked. Instead of speculating and spreading rumours I suggest you'd contact Tenorman who was in charge and is available for questions about the forums anyway. I can tell you I've worked my butt off and still have the parts I was pointed out to secured savely as I'm sure the few others we were with will have too. All her stories have been on the board for years. All was still there after she had died in the different threads. Out of respect for her family the project was a private section on the board where we gathered and sorted the information, we didn't want to publish anything without permission which is the only way to go. I'm not sure who you are referring to by "Jeff", you should turn to the one in charge. -

Sandi died spring 2011. It all went very quickly. She told me she thought she had eaten something wrong like something not cooked well enough, barely a month later she died. It was lung cancer. Like I've said before she was one of the most compassioned people I've ever met. She had a good heart. -
Hi folks, is there anyone who can give me some advice on Jazz ukulele? Which kind would be suited to play Jazz? I have been looking into brands, strings etc. I want a warm sound and I am thinking Tenor would be a good choice for that. Is that correct? Now I will be a beginner at this and reading tips, recommendations and so on, people seem to point to a Soprano or Concert Ukulele. I'm not sure though. I play guitar. I'm used to its standard tuning. Does it makes much difference in chosing a G- or a C- ukulele compared to the guitar? Anyone who has some useful comments here to help me decide what to choose regarding type, brand etc, is welcome to post. Thank you all for your time reading. Kind regards, page

That feeling is mutual, xybert. Same goes for me. I have been a member for 11 years and feel warm towards the kind people I've met there over the years, musicians and non-musicians. Someone mentioned Sandi before. She was a good friend. I still miss her and feel grateful for the way she encouraged me(she and another member) to start writing my own lyrics which even resulted in composing my own music. I had never thought I would be able to do that. Someone with a lot of empathy and compassion towards other people and there were more people like that. I'd never expected to feel that way about people from the internet, but I really made some true friends there. Like Randall once said, it was a community we were part of. Especially the period around 2009 when the AAJ orchestra was a fact. That was something else. -
what are you drinking right now?

Yeah, I saw him live in 2015. Very much alive and kicking swing then.

I have a bit of trouble with the "R.I.P." in the title of the thread btw, it is as someone has died for real. -

That must have been before my time but I do remember your presence there after that. You inspired someone to start a poetry thread, so you did make a good impression and so not just with me. -
Yeah, not everyone who sings jazz is a jazz vocalist for sure. However, there are still very talented ones around. I just focus on those myself.

I don't do Twitter or Facebook, so my message for the people involved: Thanks for all the hard work over the years Mike and Ian, it is highly appreciated! Thank you, all of you musicians who helped me discover and learn about jazz and thanks, all of you, who became my friend there. I'll miss you dearly! sincerely, page

I don't agree with the original statement. I know a fair amount jazz vocalists I highly admire. Fay Claassen f.e. to name just one.

Hi jlhoots and kinuta, yeah I might and I can do that. Lots of movies at the moment so I'm not sure yet what to go see first. Thanks you both. kind regards, page
-
Hi Kinuta, me as well, actually that is how I got acquainted with jazz although not realizing it at the time. I watched all of those old movies on tv when I was a girl. I've always loved them. I have a soft spot for musical films probably because I love singing myself and I did participate in a few musicals at the time I was in this pop rock choir. I basically like to watch people sing, but there is difference in quality in shows, films etc like you say. I didn't see Whiplash I'm afraid. I remember Madonna particpating in a musical film years ago. I think I did like that one, but I can't really remember. My favourite movie is probably the Westside Story, a classic Romeo-Julia story which helped my parents get together, lol. I love classic movies too and music plays a big part in these often. A few years ago I saw a silent picture with live music in our old filmmuseum theatre. I love things like that. I'll take your review to heart if I will go see it. I'm not sure I will now. Thank you. Kind regards, page

Ah, I just heared a very positive review on tv the other day, so that changes things for me. So, no good at all in your opinion? It was said it was kept nice and small and I like it that way, so I thought that I maybe should go see it. I even mentioned it to my gf. I want to see that one as well, even when it gets me to get more paranoid. An old movie for me today, first of the Cohen brothers: Blood Simple. I quite liked it!
