The other day: "Een echte Vermeer" (A real Vermeer), about the master forger Han van Meegeren, based on a true story. I had expected more of it, but still it was a nice movie. Before that, in the past months: "Elle" a film of Paul Verhoeven. He still has this touch and directed this French! movie. Hats off! Horrible, nonetheless fantastic movie with a extraordinary role by Isabelle Huppert. "Men and chicken", weird movie, still quite enjoyable. Two brothers looking for their father. Made in Denmark. Something else, definitely. "Eye in the sky". Good. Frightening scenario. I would not be able to have a job like that.

Happy Birthday!

Thanks, I did try a few times in a row. I'll try again.

Yes, it touched me too. I saw it in the cinema. Quite impressive. Yes, it was a thrilling one. It would not be my line of job I must say, I would be too soft to be able to make such decisions.

I've just noticed there are two threads about this topic. Maybe they can be merged?

Hi I p, I've tried what you've advised, but it doesn't make a difference for me. I still can't acces the website. Yes, I do go to discogs as well, a great website!. Sometimes, however, I want to search for a certain song, or need to know who the musicians are on an album, and allmusic used to be great to find facts like that. Well, tough luck. Kind regards, page

Hi Scott, every time my browser closes cookies are deleted. I've set it up that way. Why you ask? I don't think it has to do with anything corrupt on my pc, just the website itself has changed, I think.

I've had the same problem. I haven't been able to acces for some time. It is a pity since it is such a great source to find out about which musicans are playing on a specific album.

I have been enjoying his music since I've discovered him a year and a half ago or something. I love his voice. So far I have just one album, Liquid Spirit which is a great one. I won't be the last one I'll plan to get more of his hand.

I'm sorry to see you go, fasstrack. I've missed the discussion totally, so I have no clue about what happened and who of what. I'm really not into arguments on the internet, I sort of try to keep away from all that since I do get worked up myself when that happens even when I have nothing to do with it. Thank you for helping out with the question(s) I had at the Musician forums etc.and the stories you've told about music/musicians. I've enjoyed those. Keep doing your music and hold on to that, that is what is important. I hope the sleeping goes better now. Say hi to Jon for me, if you run into him. Kind regards, page

Some way to someone's heart: going over for dinner, bringing the food ánd remembering to bring the pet a little something too. Well, well ...

Am I Being Lied To or Does This Sound Plausible to You?

I'm really sorry to hear this, Dan. Being lied to and had this happen is terrible, but when it is someone you know, that makes it even more tough to deal with. I hope better times will be coming to you soon. -
Jazz Books in Dutch
page replied to Niko's topic in Jazz In Print - Periodicals, Books, Newspapers, etc...
Hey Niko, moving to Tilburg? That's nice. I like the area and the people in that part of the country seem to have warm attitude by nature. Lovely cities and countryside. Hope you'll enjoy living there! Do you mean books about Dutch jazz and or musicians or books in Dutch about general jazz subjects? You have had much advice already, so not sure I'll be able to add new material. I'd prefer second hand books myself and you can always become of a member of the public library. You'll be able to lend music as well, from the National selection. I can highly recommend it. Really nice that you want to learn Dutch by reading jazz book. I have one family member who learned most Dutch because of Dutch songs. I think it really helps when you use something that has your interest, it helps to learn quicker. "Toi, toi, toi" for luck (that's a Dutch 'good luck'- wish usually used in the theatre/artist circle) for your efforts! regards, page -
Am I Being Lied To or Does This Sound Plausible to You?

Hm, doesn't sound good. I have worked helping people who are in debt for some time and most of them were behind on their rent. Although there is a certain group of people, usually people who are chaotic and who don't see the overall picture of their finances and those get into trouble repeatedly; it can also be due to other personal circumstances in which all of us could end up just like that when we loose our job f or when we get ill f.e. I know the reason might not make a difference to you, since you need the money of course to pay your own bills. I hope her excuses were true but I don't have a good feeling about it either. Better be honest before getting into more trouble and not bury your head into the sand like we say over here. -
Ah, I'm happy to wear a towel in honour of a writer if you all are. Hope he was a real good story teller. Welcome to the forums! regards, page
