  1. Happy Birthday!
  2. Hm, that's interesting. I will pay attention to that. With the big band there were a lot of tunes in Eb and some in Ab. never in Db though, too many flats I think. I had this great transcription of a Sarah Vaughan song I didn't bring in for that reason. It was in Db, they didn't like that. I could of course transpose the scores but that is a lot of work to do for all instruments, my only problem would be the drummer part. I have no idea how to write that in Sibelius. So I would need some help. Another song with a transcription of Julie London with a big band was in A. They didn't want to do that either, although the hornparts didn't use all the sharps. I've always found it a pity. But maybe, some other time with another big band. I do 'No moon" as a swing tune but Julie London/Barney Kessel did the verses in Latin and the bridge in swing which is also nice. In one of my originals I do the same. I do use her key on this song which is Gm (another Bb ) I love those duets she did with Barney Kessel. I have a few transcriptions. I agree with your bassplayer and would choose a few bossas for sure.
  3. Wow, perfect pitch, you have my admiration! Great, well I just wanted to offer my help where I can. I have quite a lot of tunes in Bb or Gm on my repertoire, so I guess I'm a Bb girl myself. Here are Ella and Basie: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FbXJvBI7s3g
  4. Hi Gheorghe, I would have added some latin songs myself, but maybe that is a taste thing. Some nice swing tunes there. Moondance would be Cm btw since it is a minor key song. I've done it in that key with a big band since the arrangement was in it. With a combo I did it in the original key Am, which I prefer. I'm beginning to see the light, I did in C as well which was Ella's key with Count Basie. I do have those sheets still, so if you need one let me know by pm. Some of these songs I did in a slightly other key but I have written them in Sibelius (music notation software) and can change the keys pressing a few buttons. I have sung "Comes love" with a jazz choir years ago, but can't remember which key it was. it is a bit funny song. I do have that sheet somewhere but not digital I think. I don't know Blue Champagne either. Anyway, if you need any sheets I might be able to help you. Kind regards, page
  5. Happy Birthday!
  6. Cheers, fasstrack, to good sleep indeed! So far I haven't taken any medication I'll have to take meds for other health problems, so that's preventing me from adding more. Also for side effects that might appear. I've found an article (in Dutch) about what nutrition can help with sleeping. If any of you guys would be interested to read, I can try to translate it to English. I will need some time for it though, just let me know and I'll get started as soon as I can.
  7. I've watched it too. Somehow I directly knew it was about this subject. Probably because I was a teacher before. I've had a few pupils suffering this and it can be tough to deal with for the child as well as his surroundings. It can be handled though, I'll probably keep watching this since it is a subject of my interest.
  8. Thanks, Paul. In Holland it is a regular Holiday. We have a second day at Christmas and at Whitsunday as well.
  9. Congrats to your grandson and have fun, MG! Happy Easter to you all. Mine didn't start too well, was up sick half the night. Had to cancel my plans for today. Now trying to recover with my cat on my lap. She does not mind in the least that I'm staying in today.
  10. I prefer a more warm tone and therefore never really cared for her either. I have one album I think, didn't want to get another after that. I do think she has improved as well. Wow, nice! Michael Kanan is great. I have a friend in NY who told me about him some years ago. He wrote a nice story about Mike on his blog. http://jonraneyblog.blogspot.nl/2008/07/hangin-with-mike.html Btw Jon is pretty good himself.
  11. Looks good, I'll check it out later. Still listening to the live report of the news now, not feeling at ease enough to listen right now. It seems like my cup of tea though, I'm into folk , wish I could go to that festival.
  12. Explosions at Brussels airport. Number of deaths and wounded people are still insecure. Rumours about other attacks in the city. My thoughts and prayers for the people in Belgium. Been there many times. Awful.

  13. I have an album of the Ilja Reijngoud Quartet where he made a modern jazz interpretations of some sonnets. Music composed by himself.
  14. So sorry to hear that, Tim. Tough on top of all the things you'll have to deal with already. All the best to you. page
  15. A belated Happy Birthday!
  16. I think that was a joke, Georghe. It is a children's song really, sometimes sang at parties to act silly. People will sing it themselves when they will feel the urge to, no need for your setlist.
  17. No I haven't yet, thanks for the recommendation. She's a remarkable actress. I will pay attention to her. You will be pleased to hear I now am following "Unforgotten" with that other favourite actress of yours. I like what I've seen so far.
  18. My problem is more getting to sleep than waking up early. It seems I do not lay comfortably until it is almost morning. So I have enormous problems getting up some times. When I studied I used to set my alarm clock at 4 AM to study. I could never do that anymore. Well college days are long gone of course, but anyway I too feel dead on my feet when I haven't slept or slept short because I couldn't get into it.
  19. Happy Birthday!
  20. It's the Ane Brun song, not the one of Anna Ternheim, but this one: No jazz of course, but it is moving at least it has me. I actually really like Anna Ternheim as a singer songwriter but the Ane Brun song did more to emotionally than the soundtrack Anna did. She has better songs than the soundtrack for Wallander. Anna Ternheim did some jazz, but I wasn't really impressed by it. I prefer to hear her sing her own music. Don't know much about Ane Brun's other music, checking some out right now. That was a marvellous final. Man, series 2 was even better than series 1. A pity I've missed that one episode. I will definitely watch again when series 2 will be on the Dutch tv, which it probably will. I really thought the scene with the mom was really really good where she held her and the dialogue there. (don't want to spoil too much for people who still want to watch).
  21. Last night I didn't sleep at all, fortunately I had a day off today. I'm pretty tired right now. Sunday I cycled a lot and that helped me to sleep some how. Glad to hear you are doing better sleeping.
  22. New series on Canvas: Follow the money. A Danish series about an energy company. First episodes were promising. Mind the tune. The singer especially wrote that tune about the subject of Alzheimer and they chose her tune to accompany the series. I think it is a stunning tune, it made me cry. Series 3 was really wonderful, I can tell you.
  23. Maybe she'll give you the keys upfront. I have a list myself, so I wouldn't be surprised. It is handy to have your repertoire in your key on pdf. I can send it upfront by e-mail that way and that is usually appreciated. When you know key and form upfront that helps a lot I think. Maybe you can tell it how it went afterwards? I would be interested for sure. Am curious about what tunes she picked too. I can only learn from that, other peoples experiences. Have fun!
  24. Wow, awesome! Congratulations, Joe. Hope to get there someday myself. Looking forward to reading yours. regards, page
